     Mavis Elaine Hartman was born on November 11, 1924 in Summit, South Dakota.² She was the daughter of Theodore M. Hartman and Emma Quale.²
     Mavis married Robert Bigelow Slade, son of Raleigh Walter Slade and Jetlie Lee Warren, on August 9, 1943 in Rapid City, Pennington County, South Dakota.^2,3 Mavis died on November 13, 2015 at age 91² and was buried in Mount Hope Cemetery, Watertown, Coddington County, South Dakota.² Her obituary read as follows:

      Elaine H. Slade, age 91, of Watertown, passed away on Friday, Nov. 13, 2015, at a care center in Watertown. She was the widow of Robert Slade.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 20 at First Baptist Church in Watertown. The Rev. Greg Berkey will officiate. Music will be provided by Eloise Falk as organist with Natalie Berkey as soloist.

The family is requested to meet at the church on Friday by 1:30 for a prayer service. Visitation will take place on Friday prior to services at the church.

Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Watertown. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff at Jenkins Living Center. Active pallbearers will be Roger Hansen, Eric Hansen, Nathan Hansen, John Day, Amanda Hansen and Jaimie Day.

Elaine was born on Nov. 11, 1924, in Summit to Theodore M. and Emma (Quale) Hartman. She was baptized Jan. 1, 1925, in Summit and confirmed May 21, 1939, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Webster. Elaine attended elementary and junior high school in Webster before graduating from Summit High School in 1942.

On Aug. 9, 1943, Elaine married Robert Slade in Rapid City. To this union, two children were born, Robert and Marilyn. Elaine and Robert lived in Marshall, Minn., Omaha Neb., and for a short time they lived in Watertown where she worked at Star Laundry and in the lunchroom at Watertown Sr. High School. Elaine and Robert moved to Grand Forks, N.D., in 1969. She started working for the food service department for the University of North Dakota (UND) in 1969. She worked there for 19 years, 13 of those years as the assistant manager. They returned to Watertown in 1988 where they have resided since. Robert passed away in 1996.

She was a member of First Baptist Church and Eastern Star for over 50 years. Elaine enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was an avid reader and loved knitting, embroidery, watching UND hockey, fishing at Minnesota’s ‘Lake of the Woods’ and doing her Bible studies.

Elaine is survived by one son, Robert (Alma) Slade of Fort Worth, Texas; one son-in-law, Bob Day of Watertown; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Marilyn Day; and three brothers, Roger, Donald and Merle Hartman.

     Myra Nell Rowan was born on August 20, 1918 in Texas.² She was the daughter of Samuel Nuel Rowan and Effie Stella Hobbs.³
     Myra married Glenn Ward Slade Jr., son of Glenn Ward Slade and Nann Zetta Stone, on December 15, 1949 in Houston, Harris County, Texas. Myra died on October 20, 1998 in Houston, Texas, at age 80² and was buried in Holly Springs Cemetery, Martins Mill, Van Zandt County, Texas.⁴

     Rebecca Neumeyer was born on May 1, 1952 in Marshall, Harrison County, Texas.¹ She was the daughter of Louis Neumeyer.¹
     Rebecca married Donald Greg Slade, son of Donald William Slade and Clara Dean Estelle Cusson, on July 3, 1975 in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas.^1,2 Rebecca died on January 20, 1999 in Grand Prairie, Dallas County, Texas, at age 46.¹ She was buried in Moore Memorial Gardens, Arlington, Tarrant County, Texas.¹ Her obituary read as follows:

      ARLINGTON - Rebecca Jo Slade, 46, a librarian for Adams Middle School in Grand Prairie, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, at home. Burial: Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington. Visitation begins at 2 p.m. Thursday with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Rebecca Slade was born May 1, 1952, in Marshall, Texas. She was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Marshall, the First United Methodist Church in Liberty, Texas, and the Grace Baptist Church in Arlington. She graduated from Liberty High School in 1970, earned a bachelor of science degree from Texas Tech University in Lubbock in 1974, and a master of science degree at the University of North Texas in Denton in 1996.

Survivors: Husband, Donald Greg Slade of Arlington; sons, Greg Slade Jr. and Jason Slade, both of Arlington; daughter, Susan Slade of Tulsa, Okla; parents, Louis and Donna Neumeyer of Liberty; sister, Nancy Gatlin of Huntsville; and many loving relatives.      Douglas R. Slade was born in February, 1860 in Barry County, Michigan.^1,3 He was the son of Russell Slade and Martha Walker.¹
     Douglas married Grace R. Potter on June 14, 1884 in Ceresco, Calhoun County, Michigan.⁴ Douglas died on January 14, 1938 in Seattle, King County, Washington, at age 77.² He was buried in Acacia Memorial Park, Lake Forest Park, King County, Washington.⁵

     Aldene A. Barcus was born on January 4, 1906 in Nebraska.^1,2 She was the daughter of William Henry Barcus and Nancy Rose Lutes.^3,4
     Aldene married Eston Wilkins Slade, son of Eugene William Slade and Lucinda Jane Johnson.¹ Aldene died on May 9, 1998 at age 92¹ and was buried in Wichita Park Cemetery, Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas.¹

     Grace R. Potter was born in July, 1865 in Michigan.¹
     Grace married Douglas R. Slade, son of Russell Slade and Martha Walker, on June 14, 1884 in Ceresco, Calhoun County, Michigan.² Grace died on August 6, 1946 in King County, Washington, at age 81.³ She was buried in Acacia Memorial Park, Lake Forest Park, King County, Washington.⁴
