Mary Kane1

     Mary Kane was born circa 1918 in Springfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts.2 She was the daughter of Henry and Maude (Bronson) Kane.2
     Mary married James E. Slade, son of James Henry Slade and Mary L. "Mae" Kennedy.1,2 Mary died on June 27, 2002.2 She was buried in St. Mary's Cemetery, Windsor Locks, Hartford County, Connecticut.2 Her obituary read as follows:

      Mary (Kane) Slade, 84, of West Hartford, widow of James E. Slade, died Thursday, (June 27, 2002) at Hughes Convalescent Hospital. She was born in Springfield, MA, daughter of the late Henry and Maude (Bronson) Kane and had lived in Wethersfield for more than 30 years. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Slade worked for the State of CT D.O.T. for many years. She was a longtime communicant of Corpus Christi Church. She is survived by two sons, Richard F. Slade of Glen Head, NY and Robert T. Slade of Baltimore, MD; her daughter-in-law, Eileen Murphy of Somerville, MA; three grandchildren, Sean Slade and his wife, Karla of Boston, Kim Wendt and her husband, Thomas of Southboro, MA and Kelly McDonough and her husband, Mark of Simsbury; seven great grandchildren; and a dear friend, Pat Priola of Wethersfield. She was predeceased by a sister, Barbara Kane Weinberg. The funeral will be Monday, July 1, 2002, 9:30 a.m. from The Dillon-Baxter Funeral Home, 1276 Berlin Tpke., Wethersfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m. in Corpus Christi Church, 606 Silas Deane Hwy., Wethersfield. Burial will be in the family plot of St. Mary Cemetery, Windsor Locks.2

Robert Thomas Slade1

(24 February 1951 - 17 December 2021)
     Robert Thomas Slade was Bob had a long career in international freight sales, working for Hertz, Flying Tigers, and FedEx.2 He was born on February 24, 1951 in Hartford County, Connecticut.1,3 He was the son of James E. Slade and Mary Kane.1,4 He attended Johnson State College (now Northern Vermont University) earning a B.A. of English Literature.2
     Robert married Michael Klena circa 1995.2 Robert Thomas Slade was living in November, 1996 in Baltimore, Maryland.1 Robert died on December 17, 2021 in Seasons Hospice Franklin Square Hospital, Baltimore City, MD, at age 70.2 His obituary read as follows:

      Robert "Bob" Thomas Slade, 70, of Baltimore, MD, peacefully passed away Friday, December 17, 2021, at Seasons Hospice Franklin Square Hospital with his loving partner of more than 30 years by his side.

Born, February 24, 1951 in Hartford, CT, Mr. Slade was the son of the late Mary Slade and James E. Slade of Wethersfield, CT.

Bob grew up in West Hartford, CT. He attended Johnson State College, now Northern Vermont University, where he earned a B.A. of English Literature. He enjoyed alpine skiing and participated in the foreign exchange student program. In 2006, Bob retired from a long career in international freight sales. His employers included Hertz, Flying Tigers, and FedEx.

Besides his spouse, Michael Klena, Bob is survived by a brother, Richard Slade and his partner Kerry of Port St. Lucie, FL. He was loved by his nephew Sean J. Slade and his wife Karla of Big Sky, MT, nieces Kim Wendt and husband Tom of Jamestown, RI, and Kelly McDonough and her husband Mark of Simsbury, CT. He leaves behind his sister-in-law, Eileen M. Slade of South Kingstown, RI and 9 great nieces and nephews. Amelia Slade, Natalie Slade, Henry Slade, Anna Wendt, Kelly Wendt, Tommy Wendt, Katie McDonough, Kevin McDonough, and Ryan McDonough.

At Bob's request there will be no ceremony; also at Bob's request, in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bob can be made to the Alumni Scholarship Fund at Northern Vermont University.2

     Rosette Slade was born on October 18, 1833 in Ludlow, Vermont.1 She was the daughter of Horace Thompson Slade and Achsah Wiley.1
     Rosette married A. Judson Lobdell on August 3, 1854.1 Rosette Slade was living circa 1900 in Marquette, Marquette County, Michigan.1 Rosette died on February 10, 1910 at age 76.2

Edwin Rust Slade1

(28 December 1844 - 15 April 1922)
     Edwin Rust Slade was born on December 28, 1844 in Alstead, Cheshire County, New Hampshire.1 He was the son of Horace Thompson Slade and Achsah Wiley.1
     Edwin married Mary Jane Grantham on November 16, 1880 in Randolph County, Missouri.1 His wife, Mary Jane, died Oct 21, 1908. [Thomas B. Peck's book states that Edwin was living in Slater, Missouri with an adopted daughter, however, the 1910 & 1920 census lists him as "uncle"].1 Edwin died on April 15, 1922 in Missouri Valley Hospital, Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri, at age 772 and was buried in Moberly, Missouri.2
