Samuel Slade1

(circa 1750 - )
Samuel Slade was born circa 1750 in North Carolina Many believe that he was the son of John Slade, Jr., of Hyde County, North Carolina. yDNA evidence confirms that Samuel Slade descends from the Hyde County, North Carolina branch of Slades. However, the direct link from Samuel to John Slade, Jr, has not yet been proven by documentation.1,2 He was the son of John Slade Jr.1
Samuel married Elizabeth [?].3 In the 1790 census Samuel is listed in the Cheraw District, South Carolina. On February 8, 1791, Samuel and Elizabeth Slade bought 100 acres of land on Muddy Creek and Big Pee Dee River from David Lee for the sum of ten pounds sterling money. Samuel & Elizabeth Slade sold their 100 acres on September 29, 1795 to Samuel Burkett for 25 pounds sterling. By 1800, Samuel Slade, Sr, is in Barnwell South Carolina. Living next door, is his son Samuel Slade, Jr. There is no further record of Samuel Slade, Sr, or his wife Elizabeth. It is assumed that both died before 1810.4,5,1
