     Percy Bowman Slade was born on April 6, 1937 in Pinehurst, Moore County, North Carolina.1,2 He was the son of George Walton Slade and Edith Lee Frye.3,1
     Percy married Roseanne McCaskill.14 Percy died on December 19, 2015 at age 785 and was buried in Beulah Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, West End, Moore County, North Carolina.5 His obituary read as follows:

      Percy Bowman Slade of West End, slipped the bonds of this life and entered into his heavenly rest in the early hours of Saturday, the 19th of December 2015.

Percy is survived of his wife of 56 years, Ann McCaskill Slade of the home. His children, Perry Lee Slade of Burlington, Gala Slade Legrand (Keith) of Eagle Springs, Eric Slade (Kellie) of Southern Pines and Amy Slade Lanier of Savannah. Grandchildren Jamie Slade Bailey (Brian), Michael Slade, Christopher Slade, Jonathan Slade; Brandon LeGrand (Kelli), Kara LeGrand Beaman (Alan); Thomas and Joshua Slade; Victoria and Zachary Lanier. great-grandchildren, Tripp and Wyatt Bailey, Brantson and Karli LeGrand. He is also survived by brothers Jimmy Slade of Coinjock, N.C., Kenny Slade of Norfolk, Va; and sisters Sandra F. Williams of Katy, Texas, and Alice Slade of Florida.

Visitation for Percy Slade will be at Boles Funeral Home in Pinehurst on Monday the 21st of December between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, the 22nd of December at Beulah Hill Baptist Church, 7400 Beulah Hill Church Road, West End, N.C. 27376. Chaloner Berry Slade1

(11 September 1916 - 17 May 1999)
     Chaloner Berry Slade was also called Jack.2 He was born on September 11, 1916 in New York City, New York.1 He was the son of Harold Edmund Slade and Vera Seaton Schmauss.1 He attended schools in Glen Ridge, N.J., and received his bachelor's degree in physics from Harvard University in Cambridge. He received his master's degree from Columbia University.3
     Chaloner married Charlotte Mary Clark, daughter of Seth Clark and Lottie Florence Currier, in 1939 in Brookline, Norfolk County, Massachusetts.4 During World War II, he worked on the Manhattan Project in Oak Ridge, Tenn. After the war, he returned to Harvard where he received his Ph.D. He was a physicist at the MIT Lincoln Laboratory for many years, retiring in 1977.3 Chaloner died on May 17, 1999 at age 825 and was buried in Old South Burying Ground, Bolton, Worcester County, Massachusetts.6 His obituary read as follows:

      Chaloner B. Slade, 82, of 96 South Bolton Road, a physicist who worked on the Manhattan Project during World War II, died Monday in Emerson Hospital, Concord.

His wife of 59 years, Charlotte C. (Clark) Slade, died in 1998. He leaves three sons, Christopher S. Paul H., and Mark E. Slade, all of Bolton; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. He was born in New York City, son of Harold E. and Vera (Schmauss) Slade. He attended schools in Glen Ridge, N.J., and received his bachelor's degree in physics from Harvard University in Cambridge. He received his master's degree from Columbia University.

During World War II, he worked on the Manhattan Project in Oak Ridge, Tenn. After the war, he returned to Harvard where he received his Ph.D. He moved to Bolton in 1947.

He was a physicist at the MIT Lincoln Laboratory for many years, retiring in 1977.

He was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Hudson, where he served on the board of directors of St. Luke's Nursery School for many years. He also served as a town tax assessor for many years.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. tomorrow in St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Wood Square, Hudson. After cremation, burial will be in South Cemetery, Bolton. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke's Memorial Fund, c/o Joan M. Drecshler, 4 Plant Ave., Hudson, MA 01749. Merrill-Carleton Funeral Home, 1 Pleasant St., Hudson, is directing arrangements.3
