Services 2 p.m. Friday at Hulett-Winstead in Purvis for Norphlete Slade Deaver, 82, of Purvis, who died Sept. 14, 2009, at Marion General Hospital. Burial is in Slade Cemetery. Mrs. Deaver was a homemaker and member of Sunny Hill Pentecostal Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley B. Deaver. Survivors include two sons, Wesley Mitchell "Mitch" Deaver of Purvis, and McKinley Wilson "Mac" Deaver of Madison; three daughters, Michele Deaver Slade of Purvis, Melissa Deaver Bourn of Columbia, and Melanie Deaver Hanlin of Jackson; two brothers, Leigh L. Slade of Laurel, and Doyle D. Slade of Masaryktown, Fla; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home in Hattiesburg is handling arrangements.1

     Leigh L. Slade was born on October 5, 1928 in Lamar County, Mississippi.1 He was the son of Leland McKinley Slade and Ethel E. Breazeale.2
     Leigh married Ella Sue Lenoir.3 Leigh was the owner of Production Analyst, Inc. He was in the oil industry for many years, beginning in Shreveport, LA, moving to Odessa, TX, Brookhaven, MS, New Iberia, LA, Houston, TX and then finally locating in Laurel, MS. He was a member of Franklin United Methodist Church and was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict.4 Leigh died on May 22, 2014 at age 851 and was buried in Lake Park Hills Cemetery, Laurel, Jones County, Mississippi.1

     Zacheus married second Narcissa [?].3 Zacheus died on April 5, 1876 in North Carolina at age 76.1 He was buried in Cedar Grove Cemetery, New Bern, Craven County, North Carolina.4

Zacheus wrote his will on June 21, 1871 and died in April, 1876. His will named Susan J. Dudley, his daughter, as Executrix. During probate, she was qualified as Executrix and entered upon the discharge of her duties until the date of her death. Item 3 of Z. Slade's will stated "I give to my daughter Susan J. Dudley, all my cash on had or on deposit. .. also my lot on George St." Item 5 had the following words: I lend to my daughter Susan J. Dudley all my real and personal estate, not here in otherwise ordered during my life, to take care of, to manage and appropriate to her own use, in the way of his own comfortable support. Item 16 the following words: It is my will and desire that my whole estate remain in the hands of my daughter, Susan J. Dudley during her life and if she should leave debts and expenses, unprovided for at her death, but all such debts and expenses to be paid out of my estate." During probate, Susan died and left a will dated July 1892.5
