      James Earl Slade, Sr., 73, beloved husband and father, passed away Sunday, April 8, 2007, at his Gulfport home after a lengthy illness.
     

He was preceded in death by his parents, L.C. and Lorene Slade, and a brother, Edwin Slade.
     

He was retired from NCBC, Gulfport, after 37 years civil service and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Korea.
     

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jo Ann, and his five children, Theresa Upchurch and husband Ronnie, Ginger Slade Rewis, Eddie Slade and wife Melissa, all of Gulfport, Jim Slade and wife Belinda of St. Martin, and David Slade and wife Yoko of Osaka, Japan. He is also survived by his brother, L.C. "Sonny" Slade of Gulfport; his favorite aunt, Lillian Lee, of Gulfport, and his grandchildren, Karen Rewis Wisnewski, Elizabeth Rewis Teeple, Adam Rewis, Lauren Upchurch, Dustin Slade, Emily Slade, Alyssa Slade, Guy Slade, Brandi Trosclair, and Bryan Trosclair, and one great-grandchild, Addison Wisnewski.3
     
His obituary read as follows:
