      Mr. Samuel Slade, one of Harrison county's oldest farmers, died at his home near Kelat, Thursday morning, after a two weeks illness of diabitis mellitus. Mr. Slade was born in this county on August 24, 1834 and was the son of the late Ezekiel and Mary Slade. His wife, who was Miss Polly B. Martin, preceded him to the grave some six months ago. The deceased was the father of fourteen children, all of whom survive, they are: Mrs. J.R. Brannock, Mrs. B.W. Brannock, Mrs. R.H. Lang, Mrs. J.J. Sellers, Mrs. John Blackburn and Mrs. A.B. Wheeler, all of Kelat; Mrs. J.W. Beckett, of Sunrise; Mrs. C.A. Toadvine and Mrs. A.L. Rainey, of Miamisburg, Ohio; Henry Slade and W.D. Slade, of Illinois; John W. Slade and D.F. Slade and Mrs. L.N. Hill, of this city.⁶
