     William Dugan Slade was New Tag in March, 1842 in Kentucky.2 He was born on March 31, 1843 in Harrison County, Kentucky.1,3 He was the son of Ezekiel H. Slade and Mary Ellen Toadvine.4 William Dugan Slade was New Tag circa 1844 in Kentucky.5
     William married Armina Harden on August 24, 1860 in Kentucky.6 According to 1900 census, they had been married 29 years. Arminta was mother of 14 children, 7 are still living.2 William died on August 20, 1920 in Champaign, Champaign County, Illinois, at age 77.3 He was buried in Clements Cemetery, Champaign County, Illinois.3 His obituary read as follows:

      W. D. Slade, for many years a resident of this locality, died at 12:20 this morning at his home two and one-half miles east of Urbana, as the result of a stroke of paralysis suffered Tuesday night. Mr. Slade was born in Harrison county, Kentucky, in 1843, at the time of his death being 77 years, four months and 20 days old. He fought thru the civil war and, at its close came to Champaign county and located on a farm three and one-half miles northeast of Urbana, where he lived more than 35 years and then moved to a farm near Toledo, Ill., where he remained until 1918, then returning to Urbana township and moving to the farm where his death occurred.The decedent leaves a widow and seven children: Orlando, William, Robert, Daniel, Samuel and Sarah of Urbana, and Albert of Wagoner, Okla. There are also two brothers, Newton near Danville and Henry near Urbana, and one sister, Mrs. Lydia Hill of Cynthiana, Ky. All of the children and a number of grandchildren were with Mr. Slade during his last hours..The decedent was a devoted member of the Baptist church and funeral services will be conducted from Centennial church Sunday at 2 p. m. followed by burial in Clements cemetery.

     Lyle Floyd Marlin Slade was born on July 22, 1908 in Freeport, Stephenson County, Illinois.2,3 He was the son of Albert James Slade and Birdie Lanetta Gishwiller.3 His obituary indicated he was born in Freeport, Illinois, although his parents were recorded in 1900 & 1910 census in Urbana, Champaine Co, Illinois.2,4,3
     Lyle married Crystal Bernice Thompson, daughter of John Freeman Thompson and Martha Vianna "Anna" Todd, in 1927.5 He was a mortician in Springfield, Illinois, and Missoula, Montana. He was employed by the U.S. Border Patrol and as a Missoula County deputy sheriff.2 Lyle died on March 16, 1995 in Denver, Denver County, Colorado, at age 86.2 He was buried in Missoula Cemetery, Missoula County, Montana.2 His obituary read as follows:

      Lyle Marlin Slade of Denver, a deputy sheriff and mortician, died March 16 at Brentwood Care Center in Denver. He was 86. A memorial service was held in Missoula, Mont. There was cremation. He was born July 22, 1908, in Freeport, Ill. In 1927, he married Crystal Thompson in Springfield, Ill. She is deceased. Slade was a mortician in Springfield, Ill., and Missoula, Mont. He was employed by the U.S. Border Patrol and as a Missoula County deputy sheriff. He also worked as a school bus driver and contractor in Seeley Lake, Mont. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Survivors include two daughters, Jo-Anne Slade Gray, Castle Rock, and Lyla Lee Christensen, Stevensville, Mont; a sister, Fern Geer, Spokane, Wash; and nine grandchildren.
