William Abel Teague Sr1
(25 August 1695 - 26 May 1762)
William Abel Teague Sr was born on August 25, 1695 in Cecil County, Maryland.1 He was the son of Edward Teague and Susannah Welch.
William married Isabella Loftin circa 1715 in Maryland. Removed from MD to Frederick Co, VA 1738; in 1755 moved to Rowan Co, NC died deed of gift s/26 May 1762, p/Jul 1762, Rowan Co, North Carolina. William died on May 26, 1762 in Salisbury, Rowan, North Carolina, at age 66.1 William Teague (109776879)
Suggested edit: Notes for William Teague:
William sold his father's land in 1714 when he was 21 years old. A deed for William in Cecil County, Maryland states that he is planning to leave Cecil County. He migrated to Frederick County, Virginia about 1734. Deeds in Frederick County, Virginia show the names of three of his sons. William left Frederick County in 1751 for North Carolina.

Some records show William married Isabella Pennington, and then married Isabella Loftin, daughter of William Loftin. Both sources (Ancestry World Tree) list Rachel as the daughter of both Isabella Pennington and Isabella Loftin. I think that the confusion arises because Isabella Loftin may have been married previously to a John Pennington, then married William Teague, although I have found no record of it.
Data verified by internet resource: Family Bible of Lyda and Vola Padgett.
Data posting by Alan Lerwick (genforum.genealogy.com) dated Sept. 11, 2003, says that Isabella as also William's cousin. William's mother Susanna Welch, and Isabella's mother Elizabeth Welch were sisters. Other sources say that Isabella's mother was Elizabeth Ives or Innes.

Notes for Isabella Elizabeth Loftin:
Some records show that Isabel was married first to John Pennington, her maiden name was Isabell Loftin so she was Isabell Pennington, a widow when she married William Teague. All the Pennington confusion arises from this first marriage if, in fact, it took place. I have chosen to list Isabella in my files with her maiden name, Loftin.
From Ancestors of William Teague Gedcom file 574081.ged-
"Some sources, including Family Search Ancestral File, have Isabella's surname as Pennington, but according to Patsy Elaine Morin (a descendant of Elijah Teague and Sarah Morgan) who has court records from Benton (now Calhoun) County Alabama, her understanding is that Pennington was a married name and that Isabella was widowed when she married William Teague. An extensive Internet posting by Ed Bergeron at www.Genforum.com listing 6 generations of descendants of Edward Teague (1655) shows Isabella Pennington as the daughter of Abraham Pennington and his wife Mary. After evaluating all the sources I have personally seen, I believe Isabella was a Loftin by birth. Abraham and Mary Pennington were possibly her 1st husband's parents?
I have seen no sources with real evidence that she was the daughter of Abraham Pennington, and the Loftin family has more than one source which connects her to William Loftin as father. These same sources show she was the sister of Thomas Loftin who was the father of Elizabeth Loftin who married Moses Teague (Isabella's son) - i.e., Moses Teague and Elizabeth Loftin were 1st cousins.
An Ashley Loftin pedigree chart lists Isabella (shown as Isabell) w/death date of 1731. I have seen another approximate death date (unconfirmed) of 1737. Another unconfirmed Internet source has a death date/place for Isabella as 1762 in Rowan County, North Carolina. I have posted an Email to this source (listed only as "Kathleen" requesting more sources on this (as of 9-15-99)."
