Robert Henry Slade1

b. 5 November 1916, d. 22 April 1945
     Robert Henry Slade was born on November 5, 1916 in Keene, Cheshire County, New Hampshire.2 He was the son of William Allen Slade and Lillian May Clark.1 Robert Henry Slade enlisted to serve in Worl d War II at on October 7, 1941 in Camp Blanding, Bradford County, Florida.3
     Robert married Dorothy Gloria Tinsley, daughter of Joseph David Tinsley Jr. and Juanita Marion Hanson, on December 24, 1941 in Springfield, Clark County, Ohio.2 Robert was stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky at the time of their marriage. He became a Staff Sergeant, 81st Cavalry Reconn Squad, 1st Armored Division and was later killed during WWII action in Italy. He was awarded the Purple Heart.2,4 Robert Henry Slade died on April 22, 1945 at age 28.5 He was buried in Florence American Cemetery & Memorial, Florence, Provincia di Firenze, Toscana, Italy.4
