     John Stuart Slade was born on April 1, 1939 in Danville, Virginia.2 He was the son of Harry Clay Slade Jr. and Dorothy Lacy Slade.1 John died on January 17, 2011 in Danville, Virginia, at age 71.1 He John Stuart "Jack" Slade, 72, of 161 North Avenue, died Monday, January 17, 2011, in the Danville Regional Medical Center. He was born April 1, 1939 in Danville, a son of the late Harry Clay Slade, Jr. and Dorothy Lucy Slade. Mr. Slade was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served in the Korean Conflict. He was retired from Goodyear. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and a member of the Virginia - Carolina Classic Chevy Club. He is survived by two sons, Gregory Slade of Fayetteville, NC and Kevin Slade of Clarksville, TN; one brother, David L. Slade of Danville; and two grandchildren, Madelyn Slade and Rebecca Slade both of Fayetteville, NC. A private graveside will be held on Thursday with the Reverend Charles Wickham officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 19, 2011, from 7 - 8:30 PM at Trinity United Methodist Church and other times at the residence, 161 North Avenue.2
