     Henry Clay Slade was born circa 1835 in Caswell County, North Carolina.^1,2 He was the son of Elias Dawson Slade and Elizabeth Turner.¹ Henry died on February 1, 1863 in Rathbun POW Camp, Elmira, New York, after being wounded at both Chancellorsville and Gettysburg. Many of those who died in POW camp were buried at Woodlawn National Cemetery, and it is possible that Henry Clay might also be buried there.¹
