     Walter A. Slaid was born circa 1910 in De Soto Parish, Louisiana.¹ He was the son of William Perry Slaid and Dora Elizabeth Liles.¹ Walter died in 1973¹ and was buried in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Stanley, De Soto Parish, Louisiana.¹

     Wilmer Price Slaid was born on August 12, 1918 in De Soto Parish, Louisiana.¹ He was the son of William Perry Slaid and Dora Elizabeth Liles.¹
     Wilmer married Charlcie Laverne Stewart on November 2, 1935.¹ Wilmer died on April 12, 1986 at age 67¹ and was buried in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Stanley, De Soto Parish, Louisiana.¹

     Hines Upton Slaid was born on November 20, 1922 in Millerton, Claiborne Parish, Louisiana.¹ He was the son of William Perry Slaid and Dora Elizabeth Liles.¹
     Hines married Florine Bailey.² Hines died on January 14, 2008 at age 85¹ and was buried in Gordon Cemetery, Claiborne Parish, Louisiana.¹

     Wesley Bert Slaid was born on April 26, 1915 in De Soto Parish, Louisiana.^1,3 He was the son of Wiley Bert Slaid and Mayme E. Booker.¹
     Wesley married Ruth E. Jones in 1942 in New London, Ralls County, Missouri.³ Wesley died on August 17, 2003 in Jacksonville, Morgan County, Illinois, at age 88.³ He was buried in Diamond Grove Cemetery, Jacksonville, Morgan County, Illinois.³ His obituary read as follows:

      Wesley B. Slaid, 88, of South Jacksonville died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2003, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.

He was born April 26, 1915, in DeSoto Parish, La., the son of Wiley Bert and Mayme Booker Slaid. He married Ruth E. Jones in 1942 in New London, Mo.

Mr. Slaid, a carpenter, graduated from Oak Grove High School in DeSoto Parish. He joined Carpenters Union Local 904 in Louisiana in 1941, where was a member for 60 years and held many offices, including secretary for 17 years.

He was a member and deacon of Central Christian Church in Jacksonville, fire chief in South Jacksonville for 13 years and a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater.

Survivors: wife, Ruth E; a son, Stephen (wife, Debra) Slaid of Jacksonville; a daughter, Vickie Anders of Jacksonville; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jeanette Bozeman of Austin, Texas.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, Cody and Son Memorial Home, Jacksonville. Burial: Diamond Grove Cemetery.

     Hallie married Arnett W. Slaid, son of William Ephrom Slaid and Sarah Florinda Hayes.¹

     Lucille Slaid was born circa 1919 in PJ Ward 3, De Soto Parish, Louisiana.¹ She was the daughter of Arnett W. Slaid and Hallie [?].¹

     Murrel Gray Slaid was born on September 25, 1928 in Logansport, De Soto Parish, Louisiana.^1,3 He was the son of Zora Perry Slaid and Johnnie Mae Stewart.¹
     Murrel Gray Slaid registered for the draft for World War II in September 25, 1946, while living at Houston, Harris County, Texas, employeed by Hughes Tool Company.³
     Murrel married Martha Jay Bremer on August 12, 1949 in Houston, Texas.² Murrel died on September 8, 2012 at age 83.⁴ He was buried in Highland Cemetery, Hattiesburg, Forrest County, Mississippi.⁵ His obituary read as follows:

      Murrel G. Slaid, 83, died Saturday, September 8, 2012 at Forrest General Hospital. Services will be Monday, September 10, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at Temple Baptist Church followed by burial in Highland Cemetery.

Mr. Slaid was an oil dispatcher for 13 years for Gulf Oil Corp. and 29 years at Hess Oil Corp./Amerada Hess Corp as manager of pipeline operations. He enjoyed golfing, gardening, growing daylilies, and fishing in both fresh and salt-water. He was ordained a deacon in July 1960, and later as a member of Temple Baptist Church he served as chairman of deacons and numerous committees, the most memorable being on the Planning Committee of Temple Baptist Church during construction of the present location on Old Hwy. 11.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Zora and Johnnie Mae Stewart Slaid.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Martha Slaid of Hattiesburg; one son, Roger (Sandra) Slaid of Poter, Tex; one daughter, Sharon (Kilfred) Walley, of Richton; two sisters, Jean Graves of LaPorte, Tex. and Jerri Graves of San Marcos, Tex; one granddaughter, Stephanie (Bill) Larry of Pearland, Tex; one step-grandson, Mark (Angela) Walley of Pass Christian; one step-granddaughter, Stephanie (Eric) May of Pass Christian; four step-great-granddaughters; many nieces and nephews; one adopted daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Jerry Sumrall of Hattiesburg; and a host of friends.⁵
