     His obituary read as follows:

      Lancelot E. Slade, long time resident of Douglas county, passed away from a heart attack on Tuesday morning, July 13, 1943, at his home on 414 North Hawthorne, Alexandria. Mr. Slade, son of the late Rev. James and Emily Slade, was born at Little Lever, near Manchester, England, May 11, 1873 and was at the time of his death 70 years, 2 months and 2 days. He was married to Huldah Taylor at Owatonna March 3, 1896. He is survived by his wife and five children: Carey at home, Constance (Mrs. Edward Dinda) of Alexandria, Emily (Mrs. Edward Wald) of Clarion, Iowa, Mary (Mrs. Guy Anderson) of Greenacres, Washington; Frances (Mrs. Alfred Zwieg) of Garfield. Margaret (Mrs. Fred Adolf) preceded him in death two years ago. Seven grandchildren, one brother, Frank Slade of St. Paul, and three sisters, Margaret, Constance and Dora Slade of Cheltenham, England are also left to mourn his loss.
Mr. Slade received his schooling in England and when 21 he immigrated to America and came to Minnesota and settled in Rice county, where he bought land and farmed. On March 3, 1905 he came to Douglas county and bought land in Alexandria township. He farmed at various places near Alexandria until he moved to Alexandria, last March. He had been in failing health for the last two years. He was a kind and loving husband and father and will be greatly missed by all.
Services were conducted from the Anderson Funeral Home Saturday afternoon, July 17, A. A. Secord officiating. Burial was made in Kinkead cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were Thomas Syvrud, Alex Johnson, John O'Brien, Hjalmer Peterson, Carl Soderholm and William Sexton. Active pallbearers were John Zilker, Reinhold Roth, Victor Steinhorst, Axel Nelson, Morris Hoar, and Fritz Hienke.

     Lancelot married Huldah Mae Taylor on March 3, 1897 in Owatonna, Steele County, Minnesota.^4,2 Lancelot Edward Hamilton Slade registered for WWI draft on September 12, 1918 at Alexandria, Douglas County, Minnesota.⁵ Lancelot died on July 12, 1943 at age 70⁶ and was buried in Kinkead Cemetery, Alexandria, Douglas County, Minnesota.⁶

     Huldah Mae Taylor was born in July, 1868 in Minnesota.¹
     Huldah married Lancelot Edward Hamilton Slade, son of Rev. James Slade B.A. and Emily Mary Weekes, on March 3, 1897 in Owatonna, Steele County, Minnesota.^2,1 Huldah was widowed when her husband, Lancelot, died on July 12, 1943 at age 70.³ Huldah died on September 18, 1960 at age 92⁴ and was buried in Kinkead Cemetery, Alexandria, Douglas County, Minnesota.⁴

     Carey James Slade was born on September 12, 1899 in Minnesota.^1,2 He was the son of Lancelot Edward Hamilton Slade and Huldah Mae Taylor.¹ Carey died on June 2, 1961 at age 61² and was buried in Kinkead Cemetery, Alexandria, Douglas County, Minnesota.²

     Rev. James Slade B.A. was born circa 1819 in Titoford, Northamptonshire, England.⁴ He was the son of John Slade and Diana [?].^5,4 Rev. James Slade B.A. was baptized on September 24, 1819; Pitsford Parish.⁴
     James married Emily Mary Weekes on April 28, 1857 in Hurstpierpoint, Sussex, England,^6,7, the daughter of Mary Marshall & Richard Weekes.⁸

     Frank H. Slade was born in February, 1877 in Little Lever, Lancashire, England.^1,2 He was the son of Rev. James Slade B.A. and Emily Mary Weekes.¹²
     Frank married Mary Sylvia Jacobson³, the daughter of Carn Anderson & Andrew Jacobson.⁴ Frank H. Slade was naturalized in Douglas County, Minnesota.⁵ Frank was living in St. Paul, Minnesota at the tme of his brother Lancelot's death in 1943.⁶ Frank died on August 6, 1943 at age 66.⁷ He was buried in Roselawn Cemetery, Roselawn, Ramsey County, Minnesota.⁷

     Emily Mary Weekes was born on January 28, 1835 in Hurstpierpoint, Sussex, England,^2,3, the daughter of Mary Marshall & Richard Weekes.²
     Emily married Rev. James Slade B.A., son of John Slade and Diana [?], on April 28, 1857 in Hurstpierpoint, Sussex.^1,4 Emily died on May 14, 1885 in Little Lever, Lancashire, England, at age 50.⁵

     Geoffrey Richard Slade was born on January 28, 1872 in Little Lever, Lancashire, England.¹ He was the son of Rev. James Slade B.A. and Emily Mary Weekes.¹ In 1891 census, Geoffrey was listed at an undergraduate at Cambridge.² In 1901, Geoffrey was listed as a Physician & Surgeon at London Hospitol.² Geoffrey died on May 16, 1905 in Whitechapel, London, England, at age 33.^3,4 He :     Adm. pens. at TRINITY, June 17, 1890.      Constance E. Slade was born circa 1861 in Little Lever, Lancashire, England.¹ She was the daughter of Rev. James Slade B.A. and Emily Mary Weekes.¹ Constance was living in Cheltenham, England at the time of her brother Lancelot's death in July, 1943.²

     Arthur John Slade was born on January 26, 1862 in Little Lever, Lancashire, England.^1,2 He was the son of Rev. James Slade B.A. and Emily Mary Weekes.²
     Arthur married Annie [?] circa 1907.³ Arthur died on January 19, 1942 in Kettering, Northamptonshire, England, at age 79 at 66 Lower Street.⁴ He was buried in Kettering Cemetery, Northamptonshire, England.

     Charles James Slade was born circa 1866 in Little Lever, Lancashire, England.¹ He was the son of Rev. James Slade B.A. and Emily Mary Weekes.¹
     Charles married Marie Elizabeth.²

     Margaret Elizabeth Slade was born circa 1870 in Little Lever, Lancashire, England.¹ She was the daughter of Rev. James Slade B.A. and Emily Mary Weekes.¹ Margaret was living in Cheltenham, England at the time of her brother Lancelot's death in July, 1943.³

     Dorah Frances Slade was born circa 1875 in Little Lever, Lancashire, England.¹ She was the daughter of Rev. James Slade B.A. and Emily Mary Weekes.¹ Dorah was living in Cheltenham, England at the time of her brother Lancelot's death in July, 1943.³

     Constance E. Slade was born circa 1905 in Minnesota.¹ She was the daughter of Lancelot Edward Hamilton Slade and Huldah Mae Taylor.¹ Constance married Edward Dinda and they were living in Alexandria at the tme of her father's death in 1943.³ Constance died on July 17, 1984⁴ and was buried in Kinkead Cemetery, Alexandria, Douglas County, Minnesota.⁴

     Mary Slade was born circa 1907 in Minnesota.¹ She was the daughter of Lancelot Edward Hamilton Slade and Huldah Mae Taylor.¹ Mary married Guy Anderson and they were living in Greenacres, Washington at the tme of her father's death in 1943.²

     Mary Sylvia Jacobson was born circa 1889 in Minnesota¹, the daughter of Carn Anderson & Andrew Jacobson.³
     Mary married Frank H. Slade, son of Rev. James Slade B.A. and Emily Mary Weekes.¹ Mary died on November 8, 1959 in Douglas County, Missouri.³

     Geoffrey Holland Slade was born on March 30, 1908 in New Mills, Derbyshire, England.¹ He was the son of Charles James Slade and Marie Elizabeth.¹ Geoffrey Holland Slade was baptized on May 22, 1908.¹

     George Oswald Hampton Slade was born on August 22, 1909 in Marple, Cheshire, England.^1,2 He was the son of Charles James Slade and Marie Elizabeth.¹ George attained a certificate as aviator on July 9, 1936 at E. Molesey, Surrey.³ George died in April, 1998 in Dorset, England, at age 88.²

     Matthew married Hannah "Ann" Cannock Q4 1939.¹ Matthew Slade was born on April 7, 1819 in Yeovil, Somerset, England.^2,3 He was baptized on April 18, 1819; Independant.^2,3 He was a glove cutter in 1851.⁴ Matthew died 1895 Q4.⁵
