Engelbert Moeder was born on June 29, 1849 in Saxony, Weimar, Germany.1,2 He served in Franco-Prussian War veteran awarded a gold medal for his faithful service to his country in 1870.2
Engelbert married Katherina Ambros circa 1872 in Pittsburg, Pennslyvania, USA.1,2 Engelbert immigrated from Came to this country, settiling in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania in 1873.2,3 He was naturalized on February 17, 1874 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, USA; He declared his intent to be naturalized on this date.4 Moved to Odin, Barton, Kansas.2 He was land Land Assessment on May 13, 1878 in Kansas, USA.5 He was land in 1916 in Cheyenne, Barton, Kansas, USA.67 Engelbert died in 1923 in Holy Family Cemetery, Odin, Barton, Kansas.8 His obituary read as follows:
Engelbert Moeder passed away at the St. Rose hospital in Great Bend, Kan., Thursday, May 3, 1923, at 6:45 p. m., after an illness of only a week. The body was brought to his home in Ellinwood, and on the following day it was taken to his old homestead, eleven miles north of Ellinwood.
On Saturday, May 5, he was laid to rest in the cemetery at Odin, where his wife and two of his children, John and Rosalie, are buried. One daughter, 'Sister Serena of the Order of the Sisters of the Most Precious Blood, who died at St. John's Institute, Wichita, Kan., was buried in Mt. Calvary cemetery, at Wichita. .

Here he spent the remainder of his years, thirteen in number until God called him from this earth and from those who loved him well.
The deceased is survived by these children: Sister Monica and Sister Borromeo of the Order of the Sisters of the Most Precious Blood, St. John's convent, Wichita, Kan., Mrs. Jerard Boor and Mrs. Aloysius Bruggeman of Seldon, Kan; Cyrenus Moeder and Pius Moeder of LaCrosse, Kan; August Moeder, Frank Moeder and Mrs. Aloysius Schneweis of Claflin, Kan., and Anna, Moeder of Ellinwood, Kan.
These children were all at the bedside of their dying father and witnessed for the last time his loving words of fatherly kindness towards them. Mr. Moeder was a veteran of the war of 1870-71 and for his faithful service to his country was awarded a gold medal of which he felt very proud. The Solemn Requiem was celebrated by Rev. J.
Bast with Rev. C. Niederpruem as deacon and Rev. J. Flynn as sub-deacon in the church at, Odin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning. DODGE CITY, KAN..2
