Colin M. Slade1

(2 February 1920 - 11 April 1978)
Colin M. Slade was born on February 2, 1920 in Utah.1,2 He was the son of Emdon Fritz Slade and Marjorie Medora Marvin.1
Colin married Marian P. [?]3 Colin died on April 11, 1978 at age 58.4 He was buried in River View Cemetery, Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon.2 This is probably the obit of his son: Slade, Colin Lawrence Pierce 58 May 04, 1954 Nov. 17, 2012 Colin passed away peacefully on Nov. 17, 2012 surrounded by his wife, sons, mother and two brothers. Colin was born in Syracuse, N.Y., on May 4, 1954 to parents, Colin and Marian Slade. He grew up in Portland, attending Cleveland High School. He graduated from the University of Oregon in 1976, taking a job with Price Waterhouse. In 1982, Colin married the love of his life, Marianne Black, and the two moved to London for a "two-year honeymoon." He soon began a long and successful career with Tektronix Inc. near Portland, where he eventually became the CFO. He also started his own company, High Desert Software. Even with many responsibilities at work, Colin's family was always his number-one priority. He always said that his two sons, Bill and Tom, born in 1987 and 1989, were the best things that ever happened to him. Colin was a loving father and a loyal husband. He passed on his humor, positivity and endless integrity, always putting his loved ones first. Colin was diagnosed with ALS in the fall of 2008. While his health progressively declined for four years, Colin remained hopeful and positive. Through these years, he was a source of strength for both immediate and extended family, offering guidance, a kind word when needed, or just making those around him smile. As he became less able to communicate, he found creative ways to show his love, make his friends and family laugh and, of course, tease or play pranks on his caregivers. A small family memorial was held in Colin's favorite place in the world, Cascade Head, Ore., where his ashes were spread. Colin requested that donations in his name be made to the two foundations for which he was most active, the Westwind Stewardship Group and the ALS Association of Oregon.
