Mary Gertrude Slade1,2

     Mary Gertrude Slade was born circa 1919 in Oneida County, New York.1 She was the daughter of Herbert Francis Slade and Marie Ann Madigan.1 She attended Syracuse Unversity's School of Speech and Drama in Syracuse and Excelsior School of Business in Utica, NY. After completion of a concentrated course at the Liberty Mutual Insurance Company's home office in Boston, Mass. she returned to Utica and opened a Liberty Mutual Branch Office as one of the first and youngest woman in New York State to become a licensed agent and broker. Upon returning to Syracuse in 1944, she became Assistant Secretary and Manager of the insurance division at Eagan Real Estate until 1960. She also was a Manager for the Caryl and Murray Insurance Agency and in 1965 joined the Agway Insurance Companies where she was elected Corporate Secretary in 1971.3 Mary Gertrude Slade died on April 25, 2003.3 She was buried in St. Mary's Cemetery, Dewitt, Onondaga County, New York.3

     Earl married Elizabeth Mary Gilmartin, daughter of Dennis Gilmartin and Johanna Corbett.3 Earl R. Slade died on May 1, 1987 in New York at age 852,4 and was buried in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt, Onondaga County, New York.4
