     Chiswell Slade Esquire was born circa 1717 in Rye, Sussex, England.1 He was the son of John Slade and Mary Chiswell.2,3 Subscribed to "A practical exposition of the Acts of the Apostiles (Vol. 2), 1747, GUYSE, John. London; 1726-1750.4
     Chiswell married Jane Davis on March 30, 1749 in Rye, Sussex.1 Chiswell Slade Esquire was Chiswell was the mayor of Rye and was elected 26 times. in 1764.5 Chiswell died on January 25, 1787.6 His estate was probated on June 12, 1787 in Rye, Sussex; After all his bills wer paid, he left the house and all its furnishings and provisions for life to his wife, £4,000 to his son Daniel7 and was buried in St. Mary the Virgin Churchyard, Rye, Sussex, England.8 His memorial is in the nave of the church.9 He George Slade Died the 7th of December 1777 aged 19 years

     John married Mary Chiswell on December 4, 1711 in Rye, Sussex, England.3 John Slade was baptized on June 4, 1719 in Rye, Sussex.2 He left a will on May 29, 1743 in Rye, Sussex.4 In his Will and Testament, John left his Estate known as Moreland of Lambhorst, where he was currently residing, to his son Chiswell, "that he shall enjoy and profits the said lands to himself and his heirs forever after". To his son William he left the8 3/4 acres in the Parish of Playden known as Great Stroud. These lands include the Manor of Ewhurst. All his remaining property and household items should be split equally between the two sons to "share and share alike".4,5
