Robert G. Slade of Plainville, husband of Anita Pons Slade, died Saturday at Bristol Hospital. He was 66.
Son of the late William J. and Catherine Speilman Slade, he was born in Bristol and lived in Plainville for the past 35 years. He was employed by the Master Tool & Die Manufacturing Co. for 15 years. He was in the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the Plainville VFW and was an avid fisherman.
Besides his wife, he is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Jr. and Diane Slade of Bristol, David and Kimberly Slade of Glastonbury, Joseph and Nancy Slade of Bristol and Christopher and Margaret Slade of Farmington; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Sandy Slade of Plainville; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Elizabeth Ball of New Britain and Cathy and Ted Tabor of Plainville; eight grandchildren; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will begin Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave., Forestville, with a Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew Church. Burial with military honors will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Plainville. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
