     Thankful Hutchinson was born in 1693 in Northampton, Hampshire County, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of John Hutchinson and Hanna Root.1
     Thankful married William Slade on July 12, 1716 in Lebanon, New London County, Connecticut.1 Thankful died on January 5, 1754 in Windsor, Hartford County, Connecticut.1 She was buried in Ellington Center Cemetery, Ellington, Tolland County, Connecticut.1

William Slade

(9 May 1786 - 18 January 1859)
     William Slade was born on May 9, 1786 in Cornwall, Addison, Vermount.1 He was the son of William Slade and Rebecca Plumb. William attended the public schools, and was graduated from Middlebury (Vt.) College in 1807; studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1810 and commenced practice in Middlebury.

     William Slade married Abigail Foot, daughter of Appleton Foote and Mary Groves, on February 5, 1810 in Middlebury, Addison County, Vermont. Abigail was the daughter of Appleton and Mary (Graves) Foot, who was one of the earliest settlers of Middlebury.2
     William engaged in editorial work; established and was the editor of the Columbian Patriot 1814-1816; Secretary of State of Vermont 1815-1822; Presidential Elector for Vermont, 1812, 1820; Judge of the Addison County Court; clerk in the Department of State, Washington, D.C., 1823-1829; elected as an Anti-Masonic candidate to the Twenty-second Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Rollin C. Mallary; reelected as an Anti-Masonic candidate to the Twenty-third and Twenty-fourth Congresses and elected as a Whig to the Twenty-fifth through Twenty-seventh Congresses and served from November 1, 1831, to March 3, 1843; reporter of decisions of the state supreme court in 1843 and 1844; Governor of Vermont 1844-1846; corresponding secretary of the Board of National Popular Education 1846-1859. William died on January 18, 1859 in Middleburry, Addison, Vermount, at age 72.1 He was buried in West Cemetery, Middlebury, Addison County, Vermont.1

Clifford Leroy Slade1

     Clifford Leroy Slade was born on November 3, 1901 in Kansas City, Wyandotte County, Kansas.1,2 He was the son of Earl Leroy Slade and Amanda Louise Selzer, the daughter of Annie McDougall & Jesse Hurlburt.3
     Clifford married first Laura Ann Hurlburt on October 16, 1920 in Penticton, British Columbia, Canada.3,4 Clifford Leroy Slade and Laura Ann Hurlburt were found on a passenger list arriving on October 24, 1920 in Seattle, Washington, from Port of Vancouver, British Columbia.56
     Clifford married second Elizabeth Belle Husted, daughter of William Henry Husted and Charlotte "Lottie" Youmans, circa 1928.7 Cliff & Elizabeth apparently divorced about 1933-34. After Elizabeth married Robert A. Hunter about 1935, her children; Bryan, Iloe & Sally took the surname Hunter.8
     Clifford married third Frances Bernice Appel, daughter of Oswald A. Appel and Fannie Augusta Scholz, on June 11, 1938 in Pullman, Whitman County, Washington.9 Clifford Leroy Slade was living in July, 1938 in Seattle, King County, Washington; at 4800 Fremont Avenue.10 Clifford Leroy Slade filed a Declaration of Intent to become Naturalized with the U. S. Western District of Washington on February 10, 1942 in Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington, He stated that his last place of residence was Vancouver, B.C. Canada and he entered to the U.S. on May 26, 1941 on the GNRR [Great Northern Railroad]. He is divorced but lists each of his children, their birth date/place and current residence of each. Earl Leroy b 6/16/1921, Regina, Sask, Seattle, WA; Jessie Sylvia, 11/29/1922, Regina, Sask, Vancouver, B.C; Bryon Husted, 1931, Bath, NY, New York; Iloe C. 1933, Mansfield, PA, New York; Sally A. 1934, Bath, NY, New York.11 He enlisted to serve in World War II on November 13, 1942 in Tacoma, Washington.12
     Clifford married Frances Bernice Appel, daughter of Oswald A. Appel and Fannie Augusta Scholz, on September 4, 1945 in Multnomah County, Oregon. [do not understand this 2nd marriage to same person unless there was a divorce we did not find]13 Clifford Leroy Slade was New Tag Correspondance with Earl Slade of Tacoma Wash. who is the grandson to Earl Leroy Slade. Clifford died on September 17, 1978 in Seattle, Washington, at age 76.14
