Orrissa Holbrook Slade1

(30 April 1830 - 15 February 1891)
     Orrissa Holbrook Slade was born on April 30, 1830 in Alstead, Cheshire County, New Hampshire.2 She was the daughter of Samuel Slade Jr. and Eunice Angier.1
     Orrissa married Henry Bowman on January 2, 1855 in Alstead, New Hampshire, on the same day as her twin sister.2 Orrissa and Henry were later divorced. Orrissa left Boston and moved to Alsted to live with her mother. The children were raised in Alstead.2 Orrissa removed with her mother to Walpole about 1885 and cared for her at the cottage on the river road.2 Orrissa died on February 15, 1891 in Walpole, Cheshire County, New Hampshire, at age 60.2

James Madison Slade1

(8 September 1812 - 10 April 1875)
     James Madison Slade was born on September 8, 1812 in Middlebury, Addison County, Vermont.2 He was the son of William Slade and Abigail Foot.1
     James married Harriett E. Langworthy on May 11, 1840 in Middlebury, Vermont.2 He was a successful merchant and prominent citizen. From 1860 to 1863 he was clerk in the Treasury Department in Washington. He was clerk of the Vermont House of Representatives, 1853 to 1856; lieutenant governor of Vermont, 1856 and 1857 assistant judge of Addison County Court, 1867; member of the Constitutional Convention , 1870, and was member of the State Assembly, 1870 to 1872.2 James died on April 10, 1875 in Middlebury, Vermont, at age 62. He was buried in Middlebury Cemetery, Middlebury, Addison County, Vermont.3

Chapman on August 17, 1840.2 William died on September 25, 1901 in Painesville, Lake County, Ohio, at age 84.2 He was buried in Woodland Cemetery, Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio.2,3 They had three children, all of whom died in 1859.
