John Slade Jr.1

(10 June 1752 - )
     John Slade Jr. was born on June 10, 1752 in Windsor, Hartford County, Connecticut.1,2 He was the son of John Slade and Martha Abbe.1 John removed to Alstead, New Hampshire with his parents in the fall of 1773. In April, 1775, he enlisted in the company of Capt. Jeremiah Stiles of Keene, N.H., marched to Cambridge, Massachucetts and took part in the battle of Bunker Hill.3
     John married Mary Mack, daughter of Joseph Mack, circa 1776.4 Mary was the daughter of Joseph Mack of Alstead, New Hampshire, who was born in Lyme, Connecticut July 22, 1729 and died in Alstead in 1792.4 About 1794, John, Jr. removed with his family to Brookfield, Vermont. Family tradition that he married again at age of eighty-two.4

William Slade1

(25 November 1756 - 25 October 1857)
     William Slade was born on November 25, 1756 in Enfield, Hartford County, Connecticut.1 He was the son of John Slade and Martha Abbe.1
     William married Anna Root circa 1779.2 Anna was the daughter of Ann and Thomas Root.2 William died on October 25, 1857 in Alstead, Cheshire County, New Hampshire, at age 100.3 He was buried in Slade Cemetery, Cheshire County, New Hampshire.3

Samuel Slade1

(2 February 1762 - 28 September 1859)
     Samuel Slade was born on February 2, 1762 in Enfield, Hartford County, Connecticut.1 He was the son of John Slade and Martha Abbe.1 Samuel Slade served in "State of New Hampshire to the Selectmen of Alstead, 1779.

July 26 Paid Samuel Slade a Soldier inlisted in Col. Mooney's Regiment raised for the defense of Rhode Island, mustered by Col. Bellows.
Bounty of £30 Travel to Providence, £12, 42 Total
Errors Excepted in behalf of the Selectment of Alstead. signed Johnathan Smith on July 26, 1779.2
     Samuel married Hannah Thomson on November 24, 1785 in Alstead, Cheshire County, New Hampshire.3,4 Samuel survived his brother William about two years. His death was caused by an accident which occurred about four weeks earlier, when he fell and broke his hip. During his illness, which was the only serious illness that he ever had, he was cared for by his eldest son, Enoch Slade, of Thetford, Vermont, then in his 73rd year. Samuel died on September 28, 1859 at age 975 and was buried in Slade Cemetery, Cheshire County, New Hampshire.3

     Martha Slade was born on February 6, 1767 in Enfield, Hartford County, Connecticut.1 She was the daughter of John Slade and Martha Abbe.1
     Martha married James Allen.2 Martha and James Allen had seven known children: James 1798; Sarah b&d 1798; Alta 1799; Almira 1801-1803; Jefferson 1803, removed to Utica, NY; Almira and Sarah.3 Martha died on September 27, 1835 in Winhall, Windham County, Vermont, at age 68.2

     Hannah Thomson was born on September 14, 1768 in Alstead, Cheshire County, New Hampshire.1
     Hannah married Samuel Slade, son of John Slade and Martha Abbe, on November 24, 1785 in Alstead, New Hampshire.1,2 Hannah died on November 14, 1841 in Alstead, New Hampshire, at age 73.1 She was buried in New Slade Cemetery, Alstead, Cheshire County, New Hampshire.1

Enoch Slade1

(12 April 1787 - 28 July 1866)
     Enoch Slade was born on April 12, 1787 in Alstead, Cheshire County, New Hampshire.2,3 He was the son of Samuel Slade and Hannah Thomson.1
     Enoch married first Hannah Davis on November 17, 1808 in Alstead, New Hampshire.3 His wife Hannah died without children.4
     Enoch married Penelope Wellington, daughter of Palsgrave Wellington and Abigail Sparhawk, on February 21, 1816 in Alstead, New Hampshire.3 About 1836 or 1837, the family removed to Thetford, Vermont, whee h purchased an old-fashioned brick house with a gabled end to the road and commanding a fine view of the New Hampshire hills. He was a surveyor and for many years a justice of the peace and in the latter part of his life was known by the title of "Squire Slade". His wife Penelope died soon after the removal to Thetford.4
     Enoch married third Mary Town on July 25, 1840 in Thetford, Orange County, Vermont.4 Enoch died on July 28, 1866 at age 792,3 and was buried in Evergreen Rest Cemetery, Thetford Hill, Orange County, Vermont.2

     Patty married Hiram Wood, son of Joshua Wood and Mary Crane, on June 4, 1809.2 Patty died on March 4, 1854 in Cambridgeport, Vermont, at age 64.2

Horace Thompson Slade1

(10 August 1809 - 29 August 1894)
     Horace Thompson Slade was born on August 10, 1809 in Alstead, Cheshire County, New Hampshire.1 He was the son of Samuel Slade and Hannah Thomson.1
     Horace married first Achsah Wiley, daughter of Robert Wiley and Abigail Campbell, on January 26, 1832 in Rockingham, Windham County, Vermont.2,3 Achsah died Jan 13, 1845.
     Horace married second Arrilla T. Holbrook.4 In 1853, he removed to Detroit, Michigan, where he was employed as a bookkeeper by Samuel Webster, who had a store there. Later, he removed to Grand Rapids, where he bought a farm. In 1869, he removed to Saginaw, Michigan, which was his home for the rest of his life.3 In 1860, Horace was listed as a farmer, value of real estate $3,640, personal property valued $960.5 In 1870, he was listed as a lumberman, no value given for real or personal property.4 Horace was listed as a retired accountant in 1880 census.6 Arrilla died Nov 27, 1881. Horace died on August 29, 1894 in Saginaw County, Michigan, at age 85.7 He was buried in Brady Hill Cemetery, Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan.8

     Eunice married Samuel Slade Jr., son of Samuel Slade and Hannah Thomson, on November 13, 1817 in Alstead, Cheshire County, New Hampshire.1 Eunice died on May 12, 1901 at age 1012 and was buried in Slade Cemetery, Cheshire County, New Hampshire.2

Lucius Slade1

(12 April 1818 - 13 January 1904)
     Lucius Slade was born on April 12, 1818 in Alstead, Cheshire County, New Hampshire.1 He was the son of Samuel Slade Jr. and Eunice Angier.1
     Lucius married Lucy Evans Rust, daughter of Daniel Rust and Susanna Evans, on March 26, 1840 in Alstead, New Hampshire.2 Lucius Slade served in "The arrival of President Johnson, Secretary William H. Seward, General Rousseau, General Granger, the Washington Commandery of Knights Templars and the Marine Band gathered for the dedication of the Masonic Temple, corner of Boylston and Tremont Streets.The distinguished visitors were received first by the First Battalioin of Cavalry, about 400 men, under Major Lucius Slade, and a detachment of the First Light Battery, detailed for the prupose by Captain Cummings, under the command of Lieutenant Hall, fired a salute of twenty-one guns as the train rolled in." in June, 1867 in Boston, Massachusetts.3 Lucius died on January 13, 1904 in Cambridge, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, at age 85.4 He was buried in Forest Hill Cemetery, Boston, Massachusetts.2

Ira Slade1

(22 February 1824 - 17 April 1891)
     Ira Slade was born on February 22, 1824 in Alstead, Cheshire County, New Hampshire.1 He was the son of Samuel Slade Jr. and Eunice Angier.1
     Ira married first Margaret B. Glover on December 7, 1847 in Alstead, New Hampshire.2 She was the daughter of Col. Edward Glover, of Alstead.2 After living for a time in Boston, he removed to Detroit and started in the wholesale grocery business with his brother, Dana under the name of Slade Brothers. For a short time in 1855, he kept a hotel in Keokuk, Iowa. He returned to Detroit and went into the produce business.3
     Ira married Jeanette Wilkie circa 1857 in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan.2 She was the daughter of Andrew and Margaret Wilkie of Detroit.2 Later, he lived in Birmingham, Michigan and was a buyer of famer's produce, which he shipped to Detroit. He was the President of the Village of Birmingham for many years, and was known as a business man of honor and integrity, a kind neighbor and faithful friend.3 Ira died on April 17, 1891 in Birmingham, Oakland County, Michigan, at age 67.3

     Orrilla Holbrook Slade was born on April 30, 1830 in Alstead, Cheshire County, New Hampshire.2 She was the daughter of Samuel Slade Jr. and Eunice Angier.1
     Orrilla married Francis Jefferson Ingals, son of Joseph Ingals and Rodentha Ripley, on January 2, 1855 in Alstead, New Hampshire.2 They had three children: Adella Eunice, b Boston, Oct 20, 1855, married Frank P. Lewis; Julia Maria, b Alstead, Mar 25, 1858, married Aaron King; Herman Francis Ingals, b Alstead, Aug 23, 1867, died in Claremont, July 12, 1878.3 Orrilla died on May 1, 1888 in Claremont, New Hampshire, at age 58.2
