Erhlich and Dorothy Mae Kessler, on August 9, 1976 in Walker, Cass County, Minnesota.4 The daughter of Clarence and Dorothy Kessler Ehrlich.4 Michael owned and operated Slade Optical for 50 years, until his retirement in 2008. In addition to Resurrection Parish, he was a member of many other professional and community organizations, including the American Board of Opticanery, Opticians Association of Iowa, The National Contact Lens Examiners, Contact Lens Society of America, The Plastic Contact Lens Co., The Opticians Association of America, International Academy of Opticians, The Guild of Prescription Opticians, Dubuque Men's Association and 330 Club of Dubuque Shooting Society.2 Bruce died on December 1, 2010 at age 76.2 His obituary read as follows:

Slade and Christopher Slade, both of Dubuque; a stepdaughter, Kimberly Riley, of Valatie, N.Y; three grandchildren, Jennifer (Andy) Beecher, Timothy Slade Jr., and Adam Slade, all of Dubuque; three great-grandchildren, Samuel and Bailey Beecher and Jack Slade; and a brother, J. Worth (Beverly) Slade, of New Hampshire.
He also was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Roger Slade.
