     Edward Clair Slade was born on January 8, 1880 in Lotts Creek, Kossuth County, Iowa.^1,2 He was the son of Franklin H. Slade and Adaline Murphy.^3,2
     Edward married Adelaide B. Huber, daughter of Joseph H. Huber and Adeline Lemper, circa 1904 in Dubuque County, Iowa.^4,5 Edward Clair Slade was registered for the military draft in World War I on September 12, 1918 in Dubuque, Dubuque County, Iowa.¹ He was Deputy Clerk of Court in Dubuque, Iowa.¹ Edward died in 1933⁶ and was buried in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Dubuque County, Iowa.⁶

     ^2,3 Elmira Wilkins was born in February, 1861 in Iowa.^2,4 She was the daughter of Charles H. Wilkins and Mary Cronan.^5,1
     Elmira married George Victor Slade, son of Gideon Slade Jr. and Catherine C. Weatherwax, on September 17, 1879 in Lotts Creek, Kossuth County, Iowa.³ Elmira died on April 10, 1948 at age 87¹ and was buried in Greenwood Memorial Terrace, Spokane, Spokane County, Washington.¹

     Gertrude Amelia Slade was born on April 30, 1882 in Kossuth County, Iowa.^2,3 She was the daughter of George Victor Slade and Elmira Wilkins.²
     Gertrude married William S. Burns, son of Florien Burns and [?] Moreland, on October 4, 1905 in Algona, Kossuth County, Iowa.¹ Gertrude died on June 17, 1909 at age 27³ and was buried in Greenwood Memorial Terrace, Spokane, Spokane County, Washington.³

     Elba Vandalier Slade went by Vandelier.³ He was New Tag circa 1845 in New York.⁴ He was born in September, 1845 in Illinois both of his parents were born in New York.⁵ He was the son of Gideon Slade Jr. and Catherine C. Weatherwax.³
     Elba married Cordelia Smith circa 1868.¹ Elba died on June 23, 1926 at age 80.² He was buried in Alden Cemetery, Alden, Freeborn County, Minnesota.²

     Mary Frances Slade was born in December, 1837 in New York.^1,2,3 She was the daughter of Gideon Slade Jr. and Catherine C. Weatherwax.¹ Mary Frances Slade was New Tag circa 1839 in New York.⁴ Mary died in 1922.² She was buried in Riverview Cemetery, Algona, Kossuth County, Iowa.²

     Mary Ann Leist was born circa 1859 in Iowa.¹ Mary Ann was the daughter of Andrew and Mary Ursula Schwaller Leist.
     Mary married George Schilds.
     Mary married Franklin H. Slade, son of Gideon Slade Jr. and Catherine C. Weatherwax, on May 27, 1908 in Dubuque County, Iowa.¹ Mary died on August 21, 1919 in Dubuque, Dubuque County, Iowa.

     Worth Conger Slade was born on June 8, 1894 in Eagle Grove, Wright County, Iowa.^1,2 He was the son of John L. Slade and Eleanor D. Conger.³ Worth Conger Slade was registered for the military draft in World War I on June 5, 1917 in Yakima, Yackima County, Washington.
     Worth married Hazel Mary Belle McGuire, daughter of James W. McGuire, on November 5, 1918.
     Worth married Lydia Izora [?].¹ Worth Conger Slade was registered for World War 2 draft in 1942 while living in Puyallup, Pierce County, Washington.¹ Worth died on July 4, 1960 at age 66⁴ and was buried in Woodbine Cemetery, Pierce County, Washington.⁴

     John L. Slade was born circa 1850 in Rockford, Winnebago County, Illinois.^1,2 He was the son of Gideon Slade Jr. and Catherine C. Weatherwax.²
     John married Catherine "Kate" Luisa Anderson, daughter of William Henry Anderson and Sarah E. Haythorn, on November 28, 1883 in Tama City, Tama County, Iowa.³
     John married Eleanor D. Conger, daughter of James Conger, on January 19, 1893 in Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa.² John L. Slade was a railroad conductor.¹ He [The1900 census wrongly gives John's birth as July 1860 instead of 1850 and his father born in Vermont instead of New York].

Note: John's 1893 marriage record to Elenora Conger states he was born in Rockford, Illinois and his parents were Gideon Slade and Cornelia Wetherwax. John does not show up on 1870 nor 1880 census with Gideon Slade family in Illinois. Is it possible that he was the child listed as Eugene L in those census?]

     Eleanor D. Conger was known as Elnora.³ She was born in September, 1860 in Iowa.¹ She was the daughter of James Conger.²
     Eleanor married John L. Slade, son of Gideon Slade Jr. and Catherine C. Weatherwax, on January 19, 1893 in Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa.² Eleanor died on December 18, 1956 at age 96.³ She was buried in Tahoma Cemetery, Yakima, Yakima County, Washington.³

     Harry R. Slade was born in April, 1885 in Iowa.¹ He was the son of John L. Slade and Catherine "Kate" Luisa Anderson.¹ He was discharged from the Army on May 4, 1914 in Fort Riley, Kansas.

     Leo A. Slade was born in September, 1887 in Iowa.¹ He was the son of John L. Slade and Catherine "Kate" Luisa Anderson.¹ Leo died on July 26, 1912 at age 24.² He was buried in Tahoma Cemetery, Yakima, Yakima County, Washington.²

     Hazel Mary Belle McGuire was born on December 3, 1894 in Tarrant County, Texas.^2,1 She was the daughter of James W. McGuire.²
     Hazel married Worth Conger Slade, son of John L. Slade and Eleanor D. Conger, on November 5, 1918. Hazel died on January 26, 1977 in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas, at age 82.³ She was buried in Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery, Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona.³

     Joseph Worth Slade went by Worth. He was born in 1905 in Iowa.¹ He was the son of Edward Clair Slade and Adelaide B. Huber.²
     Joseph married Irene L. Moore circa 1928.³ Joseph died on July 17, 1960 and was buried in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Dubuque County, Iowa.⁴

     Irene L. Moore was born circa 1899 in Illinois.¹
     Irene married Joseph Worth Slade, son of Edward Clair Slade and Adelaide B. Huber, circa 1928.² Irene died on March 3, 1986 and was buried in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Dubuque County, Iowa.³

     Joseph Worth Slade Jr. was born on April 12, 1930 in Dubuque County, Illinois.^1,2 He was the son of Joseph Worth Slade and Irene L. Moore.¹
     Joseph married Beverly [?].³ Joseph Worth Slade Jr. and Beverly [?] resided in New Hampshire in 2010.³ Joseph died on April 21, 2021 in Stratham, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, at age 91.² His obituary read as follows.²

     

     Roger Edward Slade was born in 1933 in Dubuque County, Iowa.² He was the son of Joseph Worth Slade and Irene L. Moore.¹
     Roger married Glenann M. Kessler, daughter of Louis F. Kessler and F. Gendoris Callahan, on July 28, 1952.³ Roger died on May 11, 1958. He was buried in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Dubuque, Dubuque County, Iowa.²

     Bruce Michael Slade was born on November 20, 1934 in Dubuque County, Iowa.^1,2 He was the son of Joseph Worth Slade and Irene L. Moore.¹
     Bruce married Jo Janette Jameson.³
     Bruce married Carolee A. Erhlich, daughter of Clarence R. Erhlich and Dorothy Mae Kessler, on August 9, 1976 in Walker, Cass County, Minnesota.⁴ The daughter of Clarence and Dorothy Kessler Ehrlich.⁴ Michael owned and operated Slade Optical for 50 years, until his retirement in 2008. In addition to Resurrection Parish, he was a member of many other professional and community organizations, including the American Board of Opticanery, Opticians Association of Iowa, The National Contact Lens Examiners, Contact Lens Society of America, The Plastic Contact Lens Co., The Opticians Association of America, International Academy of Opticians, The Guild of Prescription Opticians, Dubuque Men's Association and 330 Club of Dubuque Shooting Society.² Bruce died on December 1, 2010 at age 76.² His obituary read as follows:

      B. Michael Slade, 76, of Dubuque, died at 1:06 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010, at home.

Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, at Resurrection Catholic Church, with the Rev. Joseph Hauer officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Hoffmann-Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home, 3860 Asbury Road, where there will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

He was born on Nov. 20, 1934, in Dubuque, son of J. Worth and Irene (Moore) Slade. He graduated from Loras Academy and Loras College in 1956.

He married Carolee Erhlich on Aug. 9, 1976; she preceded him in death on June 18, 2001.

Michael owned and operated Slade Optical for 50 years, until his retirement in 2008. In addition to Resurrection Parish, he was a member of many other professional and community organizations, including the American Board of Opticanery, Opticians Association of Iowa, The National Contact Lens Examiners, Contact Lens Society of America, The Plastic Contact Lens Co., The Opticians Association of America, International Academy of Opticians, The Guild of Prescription Opticians, Dubuque Men's Association and 330 Club of Dubuque Shooting Society.

Michael loved spending time with his granddogs, Otis and Rufus, who he brought to the office every day.

Surviving are his four children, Jeffrey (Kay) Slade, of Dubuque, Kimberly (Al) Hernandez, of Roseville, Minn., and Timothy "T.J." Slade and Christopher Slade, both of Dubuque; a stepdaughter, Kimberly Riley, of Valatie, N.Y; three grandchildren, Jennifer (Andy) Beecher, Timothy Slade Jr., and Adam Slade, all of Dubuque; three great-grandchildren, Samuel and Bailey Beecher and Jack Slade; and a brother, J. Worth (Beverly) Slade, of New Hampshire.

He also was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Roger Slade.

     Carolee A. Erhlich was born on December 5, 1937 in Dubuque, Dubuque County, Iowa.² She was the daughter of Clarence R. Erhlich and Dorothy Mae Kessler.^2,3 The daughter of Clarence and Dorothy Kessler Ehrlich.²
     Carolee married Bruce Michael Slade, son of Joseph Worth Slade and Irene L. Moore, on August 9, 1976 in Walker, Cass County, Minnesota.² Carolee died on June 18, 2001 at age 63¹ and was buried in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Dubuque, Dubuque County, Iowa.⁴
