Dwaine Edward Slade slipped into eternal life February 21, 2014 at the age of 82. Dwaine was born the 8th of 9 children on June 16, 1931 in Gilbert, Arizona to James J. Slade Sr. and Golden Verbena Bond Slade.
Dwaine graduated from Mesa High School in 1949. After graduation he worked at Mesa Auto Supply repairing motors and in his spare time building and racing hot rods, the stories of which he loved re-telling to his kids and grandkids. In 1951 Dwaine joined the US Air Force and spent the majority of the time stationed at the base in Yuma. While in the Air Force, he rented ground and farmed on the side. He met Eleanor Ruth Reid on a blind date and they were married May 10, 1955 in Yuma, Arizona. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Mesa Arizona LDS Temple. Dwaine was a lifelong farmer growing alfalfa and cotton on acreage throughout the Yuma area. He was a great mechanic and had an inventors mind, surprising everyone with things he brought from ideas to fruition. Eleanor preceded him in death in 2003. Dwaine is survived by four children, Lorna Hoopes (Jack), of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Lisa Buckmiller (Ron) of Centerville, Utah; David D. Slade (Lisa) of Yuma, and Leslie Lundgren (John) of Yuma. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; Hayden Mazzarelli (Joey), Nicole Buckmiller, JC Hoopes, Daniel Slade (Inga), Slade Hoopes (Shaela), Douglas Slade (Fawn), Jessica Snell, Mitchell Buckmiller, Alyssa Slade, Kameron Snell, currently serving an LDS mission in the North Carolina Raleigh mission and Leah Snell. Three great-grandsons, J.D. Mazzarelli, Zephyr Mazzarelli and Zane Slade. One brother William Slade (Suzanne) of Wendell, ID, Sister-in-law and Brother-in-law Pat and Kirby Garrison of Yuma as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Eleanor, son-in-law Curt Snell, 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
Dwaine was a great example of patience and enduring to the end to his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and all who had the opportunity to meet him. We love you and will miss you Dad, and Papa.
A visitation will be held at Yuma Mortuary, 551 W 16th St., Tuesday, February 25, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at 11:00 am with a visitation from 9:30-10:30 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Yuma Stake Center, 4300 W. 16th St., Yuma. Interment will be at Desert Lawn Memorial Park.1

Slade, Charlesina Findlay, Ina Slade, of Mesa, Arizona, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2015, at the age of 86. Ina was born on July 5, 1928, and spent her youth in Aberdeen, Scotland, before immigrating in 1949 to join her parents and sister in Arizona. Following her marriage to Frank Bond Slade in 1953, Ina became a proud and loving mother to her children Fred, Neil, Charlene, Sheila, and Ian. She derived a lot of joy, and gave a lot of love, to her 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Ina was always willing to share her talents and she taught many people using her skill at needlework, crochet, knitting, and playing the piano. Following her husband's death in 1988, Ina volunteered to serve as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the Family History Center in Mesa. She loved to help people find records of their ancestors, and specialized in finding family members from Scotland and Great Britain. Ina is survived by her sister, Ella (Ralph) Mitchell, her children Fred (Marti), Neil (Janice), Charlene (Rob) Barber, Sheila (Scott) Martin, and Ian (Beth), her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2015, at 11 am at the LDS Church Building located at 848 N.
