     Willard Remster Slade was known as Remster.² He was born on September 9, 1898 in Sanborn County, South Dakota.^1,3,4 He was the son of Willard W. Slade and Nellie Olive Remster.² Willard Remster Slade was registered for the military draft in World War I on September 8, 1918 in Tyndall, Bon Homme County, South Dakota.¹
     Willard married Sylvia Marie Crow, daughter of William B. Crow and Mary E. Owens, in 1922.⁵ Willard died in August, 1980 in Springfield Twp, Bon Homme County, South Dakota, at age 81 [last known residence].³ Willard died on August 19, 1980 at age 81.^6,3 He was buried in Springfield Cemetery, Springfield, Bon Homme County, South Dakota.⁶

     Sylvia Marie Crow was born on December 23, 1899 in Charles Mix County, South Dakota.^1,3 She was the daughter of William B. Crow and Mary E. Owens.³
     Sylvia married Willard Remster Slade, son of Willard W. Slade and Nellie Olive Remster, in 1922.² Sylvia died on July 18, 1996 at age 96.⁴ She was buried in Springfield Cemetery, Springfield, Bon Homme County, South Dakota.¹

     Robert Verdon Slade was born on February 28, 1924 in Bon Homme County, South Dakota.² He was the son of Willard Remster Slade and Sylvia Marie Crow.¹
     Robert married Betty [?].^3,2 Robert died on January 12, 2002 at age 77.² He was buried in Springfield Cemetery, Springfield, Bon Homme County, South Dakota.²

     James Edward Slade was born circa 1931 in South Dakota.¹ He was the son of Willard Remster Slade and Sylvia Marie Crow.¹ James died on July 9, 2015 in Yankton County, South Dakota.³ He was buried in Yankton Cemetery, Yankton County, South Dakota.³

     William B. Crow was born in April, 1870 in Iowa His parents were both born in Ohio.¹
     William married Mary E. Owens in 1897.¹ William died circa 1909.

     Mary E. Owens was born in March, 1876 in South Dakota Her parents were both born in Wales.¹

     William S. Creed was born circa 1838 in New York.¹ He was the son of James Creed and Almira Gordon.¹
     William married Chloe Adalade Slade, daughter of Gideon Slade Jr. and Catherine C. Weatherwax, on October 27, 1880 in Lotts Creek, Kossuth County, Iowa.¹

     Lawton Slade was known as Layton.² He was born in 1793 in New York.¹ He was the son of Oliver Slade and Hannah Elizabeth Lawton.¹

     Harold Keith Slade was born on March 11, 1897 in Clinton County, Michigan.¹ He was the son of William Edward Slade and Laura Adelle Brooks.²
     Harold married Hazel Lenore Slusser, daughter of Ralph Clayton Slusser and Laura Belle Hofferbert, circa 1923.¹ Harold died on April 10, 1977 at age 80.³ He was buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, Hillsdale, Hillsdale County, Michigan.³

     Hazel Lenore Slusser was born on November 2, 1907 in Clinton County, Michigan.² She was the daughter of Ralph Clayton Slusser and Laura Belle Hofferbert.³
     Hazel married Harold Keith Slade, son of William Edward Slade and Laura Adelle Brooks, circa 1923.⁴ Hazel died on November 5, 1986 at age 79² and was buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, Hillsdale, Hillsdale County, Michigan.²

     Ralph Slusser Slade was born on May 23, 1928 in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio.³ He was the son of Harold Keith Slade.⁴
     Ralph married Dorothy Miles in 1951.²
     Ralph married Ilene Alfleeda Gilbert, daughter of Earnest G. Gilbert and Zella Gleason, on September 2, 1957.⁵
     Ralph married Patricia A. Blakeman, daughter of Harold Blakeman and Stella Kronkowski, in 1972.⁶ Ralph died on December 19, 2013 in Montpelier, Williams County, Ohio, at age 85.³ He was buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, Hillsdale, Hillsdale County, Michigan.² His obituary read as follows:

      Ralph S. Slade, Sr, age 85, of Osseo passed away Thursday, December 19, 2013 at the Community Hospital & Wellness Center in Montpelier, Ohio. He was born May 23, 1928 in Toledo to Harold and Hazel (Slusser) Slade. He married Patricia Blakeman on May 5, 1972.Ralph attended Hillsdale Community Schools. He served his county in the U.S. Navy during WWII where he was stationed in Guam. Ralph was a member of the Hillsdale American Legion and the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed canoeing, dune buggying, spending time with his grandchildren and spoiling his dog, Allie.Surviving besides his wife, Patricia, are four daughters, Shelly Caldwell, Jill Slade, Judy Double and Louise Slade-Wirick; four sons, Ralph (Cherie) Slade, Jr, John Slade, Mike (Linda) Riker and Steve (Debbie) Riker; sixteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; two brothers and three sisters.He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two grandchildren. A memorial visitation for Ralph Slade will take place Sunday, December 22, 2013 from 2-4 P.M. at the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale. Immediately following the visitation, there will be a memorial luncheon at the Hillsdale American Legion.Memorial contributions are suggested to the Hillsdale American Legion.³

     Harold Keith Slade Jr. was born circa 1926 in Indiana.¹ He was the son of Harold Keith Slade and Hazel Lenore Slusser.¹
     Harold married Eileen Fern Stettler, daughter of William Henry Stettler and Nettie Oberly, on April 2, 1947 in Allen County, Ohio.² Harold died on March 6, 1985 in Ohio.³ He was buried in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima, Allen County, Ohio.

     Hazel Laura Slade was born on January 25, 1925 in Indiana.² She was the daughter of Harold Keith Slade and Hazel Lenore Slusser.²
     Hazel married Robert Joseph Bieskie on January 30, 1944 in Sturgis, St. Joseph County, Michigan.³ Hazel was widowed when her husband, Robert, died on May 30, 2010 at age 85.⁴ Hazel died on January 13, 2015 at age 89.¹ She was buried in Albion Memory Gardens, Albion, Calhoun County, Michigan.¹ BIESKIE, Hazel Laura Spring Arbor Age 89 of Spring Arbor went to be with the Lord January 13, 2015. Surviving are one daughter, Carol Bray, one son David Bieskie, six grandchildren; Bryan Kay, Kristin Kramer, Derek Bray, Kevin Bray, David Bray, Nicole Bieskie and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband of 66 years Robert Bieskie, daughter Patricia Kay and two brothers Ralph Slade and Bud Slade. She received a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Spring Arbor College after raising her three children. Hazel and husband Robert attended Spring Arbor College together. A celebration of her life will be held Monday, January 19, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at Spring Arbor Free Methodist Church in the chapel; Reverend Ward Sipes officiating; interment Albion Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday at the Watson Funeral Chapel in Jackson from 1:00 5:00 P.M. & Monday at the church from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service. -.¹

     William Edward Slade was born in August, 1856 in Orleans County, New York.¹ He was the son of John Edward Slade and Susan Ada Lyman.^3,4
     William married first Ida Knapp, daughter of Charles Knapp and Emily [?].⁵ Ida died July 31, 1885, there were no children from their marriage.
     William married second Laura Adelle Brooks, daughter of Alonzo Brooks and Laura Noble, on January 8, 1887 in Corunna, Shiawassee County, Michigan.^1,6
     William married third Susan "Susie" Harris, daughter of Henry Harrison Harris and Adelaide Kellogg, on April 4, 1911 in Battle Creek, Calhoun County, Michigan.⁷ William Edward Slade and Susan were divorced on October 6, 1917 in Sturgis, St. Joseph County, Michigan; [apparently, this is a divorce, although it is listed in the marriage book.].⁸ Susie is shown in 1920 census as divorced, but was remarried later that year to Edward J. Ellsworth.] William died on September 13, 1921 at age 65¹⁰ and was buried in Mount Rest Cemetery, St. Johns, Clinton County, Michigan.¹⁰

     Laura Adelle Brooks was born in November, 1865 in Buffalo, Erie County, New York.^2,3 She was the daughter of Alonzo Brooks and Laura Noble.
     Laura married William Edward Slade, son of John Edward Slade and Susan Ada Lyman, on January 8, 1887 in Corunna, Shiawassee County, Michigan.^2,1 Laura was living in Caledonia at the time of her marriage.¹ Laura died on May 20, 1926 at age 60.⁴ She was buried in Highland Cemetery, South Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana.⁴

     Patricia A. Blakeman was born on June 2, 1942 in Cambria Twp, Michigan.¹ She was the daughter of Harold Blakeman and Stella Kronkowski.¹
     Patricia married Ralph Slusser Slade, son of Harold Keith Slade, in 1972.¹ Patricia died on March 30, 2014 at age 71.¹ Her obituary read as follows:

      Patricia A. Slade, 71, of Hillsdale, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2014, at the Hillsdale Community Health Center.

She was born June 2, 1942 in Cambria Twp., Michigan to Harold & Stella (Kronkowski) Blakeman. She was married to Ralph S. Slade Sr. and he preceded her in death in 2013.

Patricia enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and spending time at her up north property and cooking.

Patricia is survived by eight children, Shelly Caldwell of Osseo, Jill Slade of Hillsdale, Judy Double of Portage, Louise Slade-Wirick of Fort Worth, Tx., Michael (Linda) Riker of Reading, Steven (Debra) Riker of Sacramento, California, Ralph (Cherie) Slade Jr. of Hillsdale and John Slade of Mosherville; 16 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; and a sister, Louise (William) Hamblin of Michigan Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 grandchildren and her husband Ralph.

Funeral services for Patricia Slade will be Thursday, April 3, 2014, at 2:00 p.m., at the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale with Pastor Mark Elliott officiating. Interment will take place at a later date. The family will receive friends for visitation Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m., at the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale.
