     Hugh married Roberta McKay circa 1958.1 Hugh was employed by Teasdale & Foote, Dartmouth Fuels, Ltd. and the Canada Post Corp.2 Hugh died on June 13, 2013 at age 74.3 His obituary read as follows:

      SLADE, Hugh Ross 74, Dartmouth, passed away at home June 13th 2013. Born in Musquodoboit Harbour, he was the son of the late Elliott and Dorothy (Bayers) Slade. Hugh was employed with Teasdale & Foote, Dartmouth Fuels Ltd., and recently retired from Canada Post Corp. He enjoyed traveling, Sunday drives, square dancing and a good game of cards. He is survived by his son Philip Dartmouth, sister Sheila Veniot Musquodoboit Harbour, brothers Raymond (Eileen) Edmonton, George (Marina) Chezzetcook, several nieces and nephews, good friends Gary & Marilyn Moulton Dartmouth. Predeceased by his wife of 46 years Roberta (McKay) and son Lionel. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Atlantic Funeral Home Dartmouth. Memorial mass will be held Wednesday June 19th 2013, 11 am St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church, Dartmouth Father Thomas White officiating, burial immediately following at Dartmouth Memorial Gardens.2 He was buried in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens, Dartmouth, Halifax County, Nova Scotia, Canada.3
