     Edyth married Percival Crewe Townsend on July 9, 1902 in St. Mary (RC), Limerick, County Limerick, Ireland, Percival's father was Edward Richard Townsend, medical doctor.³ Able to read and write.¹ Probate of her brother, Cecil Alfred Slade's estate was granted to Edyth. Her last name was Townsend at this time and she was a widow.⁴

     William Slade was born circa 1837 in Wiltshire, England.¹
     William married Jane [?] circa 1880 in Ireland.¹ William Slade was an Army pensioner.¹ He was Church of Ireland.¹ Cannot read¹ and died on March 6, 1904 in Blackcastle Demesne (Pt. of), Navan (urban), County Meath, Ireland.² His death was registered on 8 Mar 1904 , by Ellen Johnston, niece of William, who was present at his death at Blackcastle, Navan. His wife was living.²

     Jane married William Slade circa 1880 in Ireland.¹ Jane [?] was a dairy maid.¹ Cannot read.¹ Listed as a widow on 1911 census.² The 1911 census lists her as living in a private4 room dwelling with 2 windows in the front. There were two structures on the property. It is listed as a second class house.²

     Cecil Alfred Slade was born circa 1874 in County Limerick, Ireland.¹ He was the son of Marcus George Slade and Elizabeth Mellefont Warren.¹ Cecil Alfred Slade was a member of the Church of Ireland.¹ He was a Civil Engineer.¹ He was able to read and write.¹ Probate of the Will of Marcus George Slade late of the Cresent Limerick C.E., who died 10 April 1921 granted at Limerick to Cecil A. Slade C.E.² Listed as an Architect in Limerick, County Limerick, Ireland om consecutive years, 1934-1945.³ and died on September 8, 1950 in No. 3 The Cresent Limerick, Limerick, County Limerick, Ireland.⁴ His estate was probated on February 12, 1951 in Limerick, County Limerick, Ireland.⁴ The estate was granted to his sister Edyth Maud Townsend, a widow.⁵

     William Warren Slade was known as William Slade.² He was born on July 8, 1871 in County Cork, Ireland.¹ He was the son of Marcus George Slade and Elizabeth Mellefont Warren.² William Warren Slade was a Civil Engineer.² William was a member of the Church of Ireland.² William died in 1906 in Limerick, County Limerick, Ireland.³

There were sturdy walls and roof, 5 windows in the front of the structure and 5-6 rooms. The 1911 Census listed it as a 2nd Class house.³

     Major married third Ruth [?].⁸ Major died on January 25, 2015 at age 82.³ His obituary read as follows:

      It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our awesome Husband, Father, and Grandfather, Major Slade on January 25, 2015. Born in Newfoundland on September 22, 1932, Major was the son of the late Margaret and Ernest Slade.

He will be greatly missed by his wife Ruth, his Sister Unetha, his children the Slades: Donna (Michael), Blair (Jennifer), Wendy (Garnet), Kevin (Donna), Sharon (Russell). Grandchildren: Leanne (Ronnie), Terri-Lynn, Holly, Stefani (Adam), Nicholas, Samantha as well as Great Grandchildren Ben and Belle.

Step Children (Ruth’s Children): Vernice (Kenny), Joey (Teresa), Melody (Lonnie), and their families (8 Grandchildren and 12 Great Grandchildren).

Step Children (The Browns): Ralph (Valerie), Linda (Mike), Diane (Carl), Clarence and their children (Corey, David, Marie). He will also be missed by numerous nieces and nephews, as well as his dearly loved dog Chippy.

Besides his parents, Major was predeceased by his siblings Angus (Nick), Don, Jack, Bob, Bill, Effie, Florence, Annie, and Ernestine as well as other loved ones: Florence Dove, Joyce Slade (Brown), and his Stepdaughter Ruby Brown Robinson.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 28th 7 – 9 pm at Fillmore and Whitman Funeral Home, 10 Clyde Avenue, Sydney Mines. Funeral Service to be held at St. Giles Presbyterian Church, Campbell St. in North Sydney on Thursday, January 29th at 11am with Rev. Richie Robinson officiating.⁸

     Ernest Slade was born on October 2, 1949 in Glace Bay, Cape Breton County, Nova Scotia, Canada.¹ He was the son of Angus Alan "Nick" Slade and Wilhelmena [?].¹ Ernest died on July 8, 1966 at age 16.² He was buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Glace Bay, Cape Breton County, Nova Scotia, Canada.²
