It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Florence.
Born in Sydney Mines on Oct. 12, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Bessie Dove.
She was full of love and fun and will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her. Her humour spread joy to those around her. She was a person who always gave generously from her heart. She loved music and people, but above all her family.
She will be missed by her children, the Slades, Donna (Michael), Blair (Jennifer), Wendy (Garnet), Kevin (Donna), Sharon (Russell) and her longtime companion, Mervyn Poole; grandchildren, Leanne (Ronnie), Terri-Lynn, Holly, Stefani (Adam), Nicholas (Catherine) and Samantha, as well as Shane, Tara and DJ, great-grandchildren, Belle and Ben.
She will also be missed by brothers, Clarence (Yvonne), Melvin (Patsy) and Wilfred (Vicky); sisters, Judy and Diane; as well as her former husband and father of her children, Major Slade.
Besides her parents, Florence was predeceased by brothers, Richard Jr., Llyod and Allister.
Visitation will be held at 2 p.m. at Fillmore and Whitman Funeral Home, Wednesday, June 5, 2013, with funeral service to follow at 3 p.m. in Fillmore and Whitman Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Nick Phillips officiating. Burial at Brookside Cemetery.
