     Elden Irwin Slade was born on December 10, 1939 in Everett, Snohomish County, Washington.1,2 He was the son of Frank Slade and Nadine Leggett.1
     Elden married Evelyn Jewel Gamble on August 7, 1959.1 Elden died on December 12, 2009 in Kirkland, King County, Washington, at age 70.1 His obituary read as follows:

      Elden Irwin Slade, born December 10, 1939 in Everett to Frank and Nadine Slade, passed away on December 12, 2009 in Kirkland, WA at the age of 70. He graduated from Everett High School in 1957 and married Evelyn Jewel Gamble on August 7, 1959. In 1966 they moved to Lake Stevens, WA, where they lived for 36 years. Eldon worked in construction for 35 years and was a member of Union Local 292 until his retirement in 2000.

Elden was a square dancing caller for 35 years. He called for the Renegades, Slade's Blades, and the Checkerboard Squares. The whole family enjoyed this activity and attended yearly jamborees in Penticton, B.C., WA State Festivals and National Festivals in California, Utah, Washington and Oregon. Elden also was an avid gardener. His colorful dahlia's, fuchsia's and tomatoes were his pride and joy. Elden celebrated his 70th Birthday with extended family and many square dancing friends just a week before his passing.

Eldon was preceded in death by his father, Frank Slade; mother, Nadine Slade (Leggett); and his nephew, Michael Slade.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; son, Edward (Leslie) Slade; daughter, Erin (Michael) Hoag; siblings, Eldra Word, Frances Blair, Mari-Lyn Hotchkiss, Mari-Ann Wiedig and Mike Slade; grandchildren, Nicholas, Benjamin and Melissa Hoag, Jessica Slade, and Patrick and Theresa Newton; great- grandson, Keagon Newton; very special aunt, Jean Glab; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Vada Lois Woodward1

     Vada Lois Woodward was a witness to the fact that Vada Lois Woodward was living. She was known as Lois.2,3 She was born on April 2, 1935 in Menifee County, Kentucky,1,4,3, the daughter of Hazel Brown & Richard Woodward.4
     Vada married first George Frederick Slade, son of George R. Slade and Bessie Ruth Covey, on July 18, 1953.3 Vada was widowed when her husband, George, died on February 8, 1989 at age 62.3
     Vada married second John Schroeder in 1996.5 Vada died on December 31, 2016 in Michigan at age 81.6 Her obituary read as follows:

      Grand Haven Tribune (MI) - Tuesday, January 3, 2017 Vada Lois Slade-Schoeder, age 85, passed away on Saturday December 31, 2016.

Vada was born on April 2, 1935, to Richard and Edna Woodward. In 1953 she married George Slade and together they enjoyed 35 years of marriage and raised 7 children until his death in 1989. In 1996 Vada married John Schroeder and he preceded her in death in 2001.

Vada worked at Michigan Plastics. She enjoyed spending time at Life Circles. She also enjoyed camping, traveling, playing games, art and drawing. She was a caring, strong-willed amazing woman who will be deeply missed.

Vada is survived by her children: Norm (Lisa) Slade, Edna (Stanley) Phillips, Ted Slade, Julie (Loyd) Phillips, Angela (Patrick) Hall and George (Penny) Slade; step-children: David (Kathy) Hayes, Patricia Fricke, Mary Schroeder, and John (Cindy) Schroeder; 18 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; and 2 great-great-great grandchildren; brothers: Gene Woodward, Tom Woodward and Dickie (Jenny) Woodward; and son-in-law, Jay Sapp.

She was preceded in death by her 2 husbands; daughter, Ruby Sapp; brothers, Steve and Jack Woodward; and her parents.

A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2016, at 11 a.m. at the Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100. VISITATION with the family will be on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Cerebral Palsy Foundation.

     Andrew Jackson Slade was known as Jack.1 He was born on March 27, 1854 in Dooly County, Georgia.2 He was the son of Jeremiah Slade and Sara Sutton.2

     Andrew Jackson Slade married Sallie Ophelia Keel on December 18, 1878 in Navarro County, Texas.3,4 The 1900 census indicates that Sallie was mother of 7 children, 6 are living. Apparently the 7th child was born between 1890 and 1900 and does not show up in the census or other records. Andrew died on April 11, 1927 at age 73.5 He was buried in Hopewell Cemetery, Navarro County, Texas.6
