She even was brave enough to get on a plane to go to Washington to be with her son, Larry, and family and/or fly to Arizona to stay with her sister, Loretta, during the winter months.George and Jean both enjoyed going to U of M football games. Once it became more difficult to get around, she enjoyed watching the games from home, where she also enjoyed watching Detroit Red Wings hockey games and her Western movies on Saturday while eating a bag of microwave popcorn. She and George loved getting back up to Ironwood whenever they could and stayed in touch with friends and classmates.Jean was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Ironwood and later the West Side United Methodist Church in Ann Arbor. She was preceded in death by her husband, George, her son, William, daughter-in-law Leah "Cheech" (Rodgers), and siblings, Ethelyn, Ray, Gordon and Lawrence. She is survived by her sons, Robert (Mary), Grass Lake, and Larry (Kay), Kennewick, Wash; daughter-in-law Kathleen, Edgerton, Wis; brothers, Howard Slade and Tom Slade; and sisters Janis Snell and Loretta Pihalja.
