     Benjamin Slade was born circa 1790 in North Carolina.1
     Benjamin married first Lucrecia Cowell.2 Lucrecia and Benjamin Slade were living in Beaufort County, North Carolina in July, 1820, when they signed conveyance of the Revolutionary Land Warrant of her father, Butter Cowell, to Calvin Jones of Raleigh, NC. The Land Warrent was for 2,560 acres.3
     Benjamin married second Nancy Windle.4 Nancy apparently died before 1850 because she did not appear with husband and five children in that census.1
