John Mourey Slade

     John Mourey Slade was born on November 11, 1869 in Tioga County, Pennsylvania.1,2 He was the son of Zachary Wendell Taylor Slade and Delphine Place.1

John Mourey Slade married Anna Mae Rice circa 1905.1

John and Anna had no children of their own, but raised Anna's twin nieces.3 John died on April 27, 1941 in Bath, Northampton County, Pennsylvania, at age 71.3 He was buried in Highland Cemetery, Elkland, Tioga County, Pennsylvania.4 His obituary read as follows:

      John Mourey Slade, aged 71 years, of Elkland, died early Sunday at the Veterans Hospital in Bath, where he was taken about a week ago. He was born Nov. 11, 1836. His wife, Mrs. Anna Mae Rice Slade died in 1939 and since that time he had made his home with his brother, Perley Slade, at Elkland. Survivors include two brothers, Perley and Fred Slade of Elkland. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m., at the Kenyon Funeral Home; burial in the Elkland cemetery.4
