Bateman on June 17, 1880; deed from JD Bateman, NA Bateman, LC McAdams, AA Hollis, JE Bateman, and Mrs. S. E. Greer to Mrs. S. E. Greer.2 Ardecia died before 1883 in Cooke County, Texas.

William Virgil Hollis

(October 1869 - 26 June 1933)
     William Virgil Hollis was born in October, 1869 in Longview, Gregg County, Texas.1,2 He was the son of William Edward Hollis and Ardecia Ann Bateman. Both his father and mother diied in 1881 leaving the children as orphans.
     William married Byrddie Batavia Mabry, daughter of Andrew Wilson Mabry and Ann Elizabeth Carnahan, on February 2, 1896 in Montague County, Texas, It is told that Wm Virgil returned to Texas for Byrddie and they were married in a Buggy on the way to Indian Territory, (Oklahoma.) [PF+] purchased a farm a farm near Oakdale in SE/4, Sec 4, T5N, R14W, I.M. in Kiowa County, Oklahoma Territory, circa 1900.3 William Virgil Hollis was purchased land 160 Ac NE?, SE?, S22, T11N, R18W.4 He and Byrddie Batavia Mabry sold land Sold 160 Acres to C. C. Casey for $2,500. on January 22, 1907.5 William Virgil Hollis was a carpenter and a farmer. He witnessed the sale of Ann Elizabeth Carnahan on November 17, 1915; Sold 80 acres N/2, NE/4, Sec 15, & NW/4 NW/4 West of Mill Hollow Branch Sec 14, T23, R19, to J. A. Green of Chadwick, Christian Co, MO for $800. The document has notary statements from all heirs (widow, her children & spouses) showing their place of residence at that time; Ben Mabry & Minnie, Sally McNatt & J. W. McNatt, all of Washita Co, OK; Byrddie B & W. V. Hollis of Cement, OK, Addie & Arthur O Hollis of Tuttle, OK. Emmett Mabry and Ann E Mabry both signed in Christian Co, MO as single and unmarried, location of their residence at the time is not evident.6 William Virgil Hollis and Byrddie Batavia Mabry resided in Cement, Kiowa County, Oklahoma, on November 22, 1915; Notary statement on sale of Taney Co, MO land gives their residence on that date.7 William Virgil Hollis and Byrddie Batavia Mabry resided in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma County, Oklahoma, from 1926 to 1956.8 William died on June 26, 1933 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at age 63 and was buried in Sunnylane Cemetery, Del City, Oklahoma County, Oklahoma.9

James Ira Hollis

     James Ira Hollis was born on February 15, 1872 in Millers Grove, Ellis County, Texas.1,2 He was the son of William Edward Hollis and Ardecia Ann Bateman. Both his parents diied in 1881 leaving the children as orphans.3
     James married Julia Adeline Kenny, daughter of Elbert Kenny and Altheatha Agatha Bowen, on January 16, 1896 in Washita County, Oklahoma, at the home of his uncle Derius Hollis.4,5 He was Baptist minister at Mountain View.6 James died on April 15, 1949 in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas, at age 77.7 He was buried in Oakdale Cemetery, Washita County, Oklahoma, 2.5 miles North of Mountain View.8
