     Mabel married Christopher Slade Jr., son of Christopher Slade and Esther Ann May, circa 1911 in Minnesota.¹

     Christopher John Slade Jr. was known as Jack.² He was born on March 14, 1913 in Minnesota.¹ He was the son of Christopher Slade Jr. and Mabel Blake.¹
     Christopher married Marjorie Bertha Cummings on March 8, 1945 in Pine County, Minnesota.² Christopher died in 1982.³ He was buried in Brook Park Cemetery, Pine County, Minnesota.³

     Arthur O. Slade was born circa 1851 in England.¹ He was the son of Thomas Slade and Elizabeth Major. Arthur came to the US about 1851 as an infant and was naturalized in 1873.¹
     Arthur married Kate St. John circa 1878.²
     Arthur married Lilly Rosa Behner on October 31, 1900 in Cook County, Illinois.³ Arthur died in 1943.⁴ He was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Winona, Winona County, Minnesota.⁴

     Christopher Slade was born on May 23, 1860 in Cornwall, England.^2,3 He was the son of John Slade and Mary Jane Truscott.^2,4
     Christopher married Esther Ann May circa 1885 in Cornwall.¹ Christopher and Esther immigrated from to United States in 1910.¹ Christopher died on May 23, 1928 at age 68.² Christopher died in Brook Park Cemetery, Pine County, Minnesota.⁵

     Marjorie Bertha Cummings was born on February 11, 1915 in Pokegama Twp., Pine County, Minnesota.¹ Marjorie was the daughter of Charles and Edith (Dowland) Cummings. She was born at home on Feb. 11, 1915 in Pokegama Township, Pine County. She grew up on the family farm, attended the nearby rural Jarvis Bay School and graduated from Pine City High School. As a young woman, Marjorie helped with the work on farm, as well as cooking and cleaning for her parents and other residents of the Pokegama Lake community.¹
     Marjorie married Christopher John Slade Jr., son of Christopher Slade Jr. and Mabel Blake, on March 8, 1945 in Pine County, Minnesota.¹ Marjorie died on May 18, 2008 in Mora, Kanabec County, Minnesota, at age 93.¹ She was buried in Brook Park Cemetery, Pine County, Minnesota.² She was New Tag Marjorie Bertha Slade, 93, died May 18, 2008 at the Villa Health Care Center. Marjorie was the daughter of Charles and Edith (Dowland) Cummings. She was born at home on Feb. 11, 1915 in Pokegama Township, Pine County. She grew up on the family farm, attended the nearby rural Jarvis Bay School and graduated from Pine City High School.
As a young woman, Marjorie helped with the work on farm, as well as cooking and cleaning for her parents and other residents of the Pokegama Lake community.
On March 8, 1945, Marjorie wed Christopher John Slade, known to his family and friends as Jack. They made their home just across the road from his parents and in 1949 their son, Jim, was born. They eventually moved across the road to the farm where Jack’s parents lived, and they lived and farmed there until 1976. Jim then purchased the family farm from them. Margie and Jack then moved back into the house across the road where they lived when they first started their married life.
Marjorie always took an active part in their farming operation, helping Jack with chores and raising large flocks of geese and chickens. Jack died in 1982, and Marjorie continued to live by herself until 2005 when she fell, and it was necessary for her to become a resident of the Villa Health Care Center at Mora.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Jim and Jean Slade of Brook Park; grandchildren: Chris and Amy Slade, Lisa and Bruce Westerman, and Dan and Sarah Slade, all of Brook Park; great-grandchildren: Jordan, Leah, Kadi, Cody and Payton; sisters-in-law: Elsie Cummings and Margie Cummings, both of Pine City; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, her sisters Effie, Lizzie and Jesse, and her brothers Cyril, Lester, Raymond, Walter, Harvey, John, Elmer and Vern.
A memorial service was held on May 21 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Pine City with the Reverend Vicki VanderVegt officiating. Music was provided by organist Glenna Reierson and soloist Don Ripperton. Urn bearer was Scott Cummings. published in the Pine City Pioneer may 20, 2008.¹

     Lilly Rosa Behner was born on November 7, 1871 in Sangamon County, Illinois.¹ The 1930 census states she was 58 years old, born Illinois. Her father was born in Germany and her mother born in Switzerland.²
     Lilly married Arthur O. Slade, son of Thomas Slade and Elizabeth Major, on October 31, 1900 in Cook County, Illinois.³ Lilly died on September 14, 1953 at age 81⁴ and was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Winona, Winona County, Minnesota.⁴

     Earl Behner Slade was born on April 23, 1911 in Winona County, Minnesota.^1,2 He was the son of Arthur O. Slade and Lilly Rosa Behner.¹
     Earl married Ruth Lydia Henn, daughter of Joseph Henn and Elsie [?].³ Earl died on January 23, 1997 in Pacific Grove, Monterey County, California, at age 85.^4,5 He was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Winona County, Minnesota.⁶

     John Slade was born in November, 1829 in Cornwall, England. He was the son of John Slade and Jane [?].²
     John married Mary Jane Truscott, daughter of William Truscott, on April 18, 1857 in Pelynt, Cornwall, England.³ John Slade was an Innkeeper.³ John died on May 24, 1905 in Pelynt, Cornwall, at age 75.⁴

     Mary Jane Truscott was born circa 1835 in Pelynt, Cornwall, England. She was the daughter of William Truscott.²
     Mary married John Slade, son of John Slade and Jane [?], on April 18, 1857 in Pelynt, Cornwall.² Mary died in April, 1898 in Cornwall, England.

     Kate St. John was born circa 1851 in New York.¹
     Kate married Arthur O. Slade, son of Thomas Slade and Elizabeth Major, circa 1878.¹ Kate died in February, 1882 in Winona, Winona County, Minnesota.²

     Hannah Scardefield was born circa 1886 in New York.²
     Hannah married first Mr. [?] Suwarrow.²
     Hannah married Victor Alpheus Slade, son of Henry William Slade and Caroline Beacham.³

     Elizabeth Major was born circa 1812 in England.
     Elizabeth married Thomas Slade in England.

     George W. Slade was born on February 12, 1841 in St. Pancras, Regent's Park, Middlesex, England.^2,3 He was the son of Thomas Slade and Elizabeth Major.¹ George died on August 18, 1903 in Winona County, Minnesota, at age 62² and was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Winona, Winona County, Minnesota.²

     Samuel Calkin Slade was born in February, 1849 in St. Pancras, Regent's Park, Middlesex, England.^2,3 He was the son of Thomas Slade and Elizabeth Major.¹ Samuel Calkin Slade immigrated in United States to 1856.³
     Samuel married Emma Welch circa 1877.⁴ Samuel was a dentist.⁵

     Sardis W. Slade was born circa 1801 in Massachusetts.²

Slade resided in Adams, Berkshire County, Massachusetts.³ In 1843, Sardis and Maria relocated their family from Berkshire County, Massachusetts to Cook County, Illinois and located on a farm in Barrington Township.⁴ Sardis died circa 1887 in Cook County, Illinois.⁵
