James Peter Slade

(13 February 1842 - 20 May 1926)
     James Peter Slade was born on February 13, 1842 in Bertie County, North Carolina.1,2 He was the son of Samuel Slade and Nancy Howard.3 [In the 1880 census, James P. is recorded as being born in Virginia, his father born Virginia and his mother born in North Carolina. However, all other census records James P. as born in North Carolina.].4 He enlisted as a private in Company G, 32nd Regiment North Carolina Infantry [Confederate Army State Troops] on April 1, 1862.5,6
James Peter Slade married first Sarah Frances Parker on July 4, 1866 in North Carolina.7
     James Peter Slade married second Annie Misouri Wiliby, daughter of John Wiliby, on February 6, 1891.8,9 Annie was the widow of Mr. ? Byrun.10 James died on May 20, 1926 at age 842 and was buried in Howard-Slade Cemetery, W of Connaritsa, Bertie County, North Carolina.2

     Jessie Bruce Slade was born in 1912 in North Carolina.2 He was the son of Paul Cornelius Slade and Mamie Hill.2 Bruce never married. Jessie died on September 7, 1963.1 He was buried in Williamsburg Memorial Park, James City County, Virginia.1

     Jimmie married first Arthur Godwin Slade, son of Harvey J Slade and Sophia Catherine Howell, on January 10, 1896.3
     Jimmie married second Starkey Norman Parker on December 29, 1914.3 Jimmie died on December 17, 1949 at age 721 and was buried in Howard-Slade Cemetery, W of Connaritsa, Bertie County, North Carolina.
