     Charles Herbert Young was born circa 1886 in West Howlich, Illinois.1,2,3 He was the son of Elmer Young and Lizzie H. Kain.1 His father was born in Iowa, his mother was born in New Jersey.2 In 1920, Charles was a blacksmith at a garage in Albany, New York.2
     Charles married Jessie E. Beattie, daughter of William H. Beattie and Augusta Bell, on February 14, 1921 in Troy, Cheshire County, New Hampshire.1 His marriage record to Jessie Slade states that Charles' middle name is Herbert, his father was Elmer Young and his mother was Lizzie H Kain.1
     Charles married second Dorothy Wyman, daughter of Martin VanBuren Wyman and Ruth Baker.4 In 1940, Charles H Young, Jr, was living with his father and second wife, Dorothy, in Merrimack County, New Hampshire.4 Charles died on July 5, 1941.5

     Eva Anna Holton was born on August 16, 1919 in Landgrove, Bennington County, Vermont.1 A daughter of Earl and Maude B. (Bellville) Holton.1,2, Eva apparently had a daughter with Samuel Edward Lebarron, the son of Hattie Colby & John Lebarron. [A marriage or divorce record has not yet been found]2,3,4
     Eva married second William Albert Slade, son of Albert Slade and Jessie E. Beattie, on August 31, 1949 in Bordoville, Franklin County, Vermont.1 Eva died on July 23, 2001 in Bennington County, Vermont, at age 81.5 She was buried in Middletown Cemetery, Bondville, Bennington County, Vermont.2 Her obituary read as follows:

      BONDVILLE -- Eva A. Slade, 81, died at her home Monday, July 23, 2001, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Landgrove on Aug. 16, 1919, a daughter of Earl and Maude B. (Bellville) Holton. She attended Weston School in Weston.

Mrs. Slade was a chambermaid and cook at the former Pierre's in Bondville and she also worked in private homes and other hotels and motels around the area. She took great joy in her flower garden, especially her favorites, white daisies, red roses and black-eyed Susans. She was also very fond of her rhododendrons, blossoming crab apple tree and a mountain pink.

She will be fondly remembered for the cooking she did for the family and also at family get-togethers. She loved to bake bread, beans and apple pies. When she sang she had a beautiful voice and she also enjoyed trips on back-country roads. She loved her family and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, William, to whom she was married on August 31, 1949 in Bondville; four sons, Richard E Holton of Schenectady, N.Y., Ronald Slade of Dorset, Lloyd Slade and Steven Slade of Manchester Center; five daughters, Patricia M. Grant and Linda DeLong both of Manchester Center, Brenda J. Hewes of West Pawlet, Judy Bogart of Poultney and Cindy Slade of Danby; 28 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by two sons, Roger and David Slade.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 27 at 11 a.m. at Middletown Cemetery in Bondville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Eva Slade Memorial Fund, c/o William Slade, c/o White Funeral Home, P.O. Box 233, Townshend, VT 05353 or Grace Cottage, c/o Dr. Robert Backus, P.O. Box 251, Townshend, VT 05353.

Beattie, on August 14, 1935 in Danby, Rutland County, Vermont.1 Mary Elizabeth King and William Albert Slade were divorced on April 3, 1947 in Rutland County, Vermont; after living apart for 3 years.3 Mary died on September 25, 2006 in Rutland, Rutland County, Vermont, at age 87.4,5 She was buried in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Wallingford, Rutland County, Vermont.4 Her obituary read as follows:

WALLINGFORD - Mary Elizabeth Slade, 87, died Sept. 25, 2006, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.

She was born Dec. 16, 1918, in Orwell, the daughter of George Arthur and Nellie (Quelch) King.

Mrs. Slade did housekeeping for several families and was a cook for many years for the Wallingford Rotary Club.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Church and its Altar Society.

Survivors include two sons, George Slade of Shoreham and William Slade of Arizona; a sister, Martha Stewart of Canton, Okla; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son, Emmett Slade, in 2004; and a grandson.

Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, 2006, at the Wallingford-Aldous Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 29, 2006, at St. Patrick Church. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
