Frederick married Amy Lane.5 In 1870, he was appointed Treasurer of the New Jersey Steel and Iron Company and held that position until his death. He was a member of the American Society of Mining Engineers and his accurate knowledge of natural philosophy and mechanical engineering made him a most successful investigator of scientific problems.4 Frederick died on October 11, 1891 in Trenton, Mercer County, New Jersey, at age 43.4 He was buried in Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn, Kings County, New York.3
