Harriet (Hosmer) Slade, 92, of 124 Ridgecrest Road, Graniteville, S.C., formerly of Worcester, died Wednesday at University Hospital in Augusta, Ga.
She leaves a niece, Meredith Decker, of Bodega Bay, Cal. Her husband, the Rev. Milton A. Slade, died in 1976. She was born in Southboro, daughter of Irving F. and Nellie (Canty) Hosmer and lived in Worcester for many years before moving to South Carolina in 1986. She attended Gordon College in Wenham.
Mrs. Slade was superintendent at Homestead Hall for more than 10 years before retiring in 1969.
She was a member of South Aiken Baptist Church in Aiken, S.C., and was a member for 70 years and past president of the Massachusetts Chapter of the Women's Christian Temperance Union. She was a member of the Child Evangelism Fellowship of Massachusetts and the Home Bible Clubs for Children. She taught in Sunday schools in various churches pastored by her husband.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday in Morrison Funeral Home, 1131 Main St., Leicester. The Rev. Douglas Geeze will officiate. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery, Southboro. There are no calling hours. The family requests that flowers be omitted.
