Michael Alfred Slade, 67, died Wednesday, April 14, 2004, at his home in Stafford County.Michael was born in Ann Arbor, Mich. He served his country for 20 years in the United States Marine Corps, which included two tours of duty in Vietnam. He retired as a gunnery sergeant in 1974. He was an Allstate Insurance agent for 20 years. Michael was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Triangle for 26 years. He was also a member of the Father Edwin F. Kelley Council 5750 and the Knights of Columbus in Woodbridge for 36 years. He was a 38-year resident of Prince William County, living in Montclair from 1978 to 2002, before moving to Stafford.Preceded in death by his parents, Frederick M. and M. Esther Slade, Michael is survived by his wife, Janis R. Slade; one son, Michael C. Slade and his wife, Cheryl, of Odessa, Fla; two daughters, Susan M. Goodrich and her husband, Dale, of Stafford, and Julie A. Wagoner and her husband, John, of Haymarket. He is also survived by a brother, Edward H. Slade of Novi, Mich; and seven grandchildren, Michael, Christine and Olivia Slade, Logan and Jillian Goodrich, and Alexa and Megan Wagoner.A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 20, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 18825 Fuller Heights Road, Triangle. Interment, with honors, will follow in Quantico National Cemetery.Mountcastle Funeral Home, 4143 Dale Blvd., Dale City, is handling the arrangements.1
