The Villages - Roger Eastman Slade, age 90, passed away peacefully in The Villages, Florida on January 30 with his wife by his side. He was born in Rochester, New York on March 13, 1929 to Stanley and Marguerite (Eastman) Slade.
After high school, Roger attended Mechanics Institute (RIT), and was employed by Eastman Kodak Company as a technician for over thirty years in Rochester. His Kodak career was interrupted by service in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed on the battleship USS New Jersey from 1952 to 1953 in Korea at the end of the war.
Roger was a loving father, grandfather and husband. He enjoyed golf and had made five holes in one, travel, spending time on the Finger Lakes of New York, watching sports on TV, and for many years was a die-hard Giants fan.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Rita Slade, the mother of his children. In addition to his wife, Linda Peterson Slade, he is survived by his children: Donna (Eugene) Easton, Churchville, NY, Steven Slade, Canandaigua, NY and Roger (Gage) Slade, Geneseo, NY, eight grandchildren, and five great- grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his family.
Interment will be in the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida with a private memorial in NY at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests those wishing to do so make a donation in his name to the American Kidney Fund, P.O. box 11038, Lewiston ,ME 04243-9963; Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607-1460 or to the charity of your choice.

Lynn R. Slade Sr., 89, of Henderson died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 5, 1911, in Litchfield, N.Y. A resident for 11 years, he was a retired Navy chief yeoman, a World World II and Korean War Navy veteran and a member of the Masons in Brooklyn, N.Y.
He is survived by his wife, Corinne; two sons, Lyn R. Slade Jr. of Henderson and Ronald E. Slade of Las Vegas; one daughter, Marilyn Patterson of Henderson; one sister, Alice Winslow of Savannah, Ga; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 2 p.m. services in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Burial will be at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.
The family suggests donations to the American Heart Association, 6370 W. Flamingo Road, Suite 1, Las Vegas, NV 89103.2
