He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in World War II. (The Greatest Generation) Survivors include his devoted wife of 64 years, Mary Connors Slade; and his loving children, Deborah Coppola (Joe), Sandra J. Milter and Lester Slade of Mechanicville. He is the brother of Shirley Curtis; and proud grandfather of Brad E. Chamberlain (Jen), Joseph D. Coppola (Carolyn), Sean M. Coppola and Joyce Lue (Kevin); and great-grandfather of Joshua, Sam, Nathan and Brandon. Funeral services will be Friday, at 10 a.m. at the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St., Waterford. Interment will follow in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. The California Birth & Death Records, 1800-1994 shows a Randall Clark Slade b Sep 10, 1881 Alameda, to Elisabeth Clark and Spencer Eldridge, however all other references to this person uses Russell Clark Slade. The birth date of 1881 is also in error based on census records and marriage date of the parents.4,2 Russell died on August 24, 1935 at age 45.1 He was buried in San Francisco Columbarium, San Francisco County, California.1
