     John A. Slade was born circa November, 1919 in Baltimore County, Maryland.1 He was the son of Allen Reiley Slade and Margaret E. Graham.1 John died on August 22, 1995.2 His obituary read as follows:

      John A. Slade, president and owner of Henry W. Jenkins & Sons Co. funeral establishment, died Tuesday of Parkinson's disease at St. Joseph Medical Center. He was 75 and lived in Timonium. Mr. Slade, a funeral director for nearly 50 years, had headed Jenkins & Sons since 1964. The company has been in continuous operation since 1799.
He was a former president of the Maryland State Funeral Directors Association and a member of the advisory council of the National Selected Morticians.
Born in Mount Savage, he was a graduate of Polytechnic Institute and the Johns Hopkins University. He served in the Navy during World War II.
Services were to be held at 10 a.m. today at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, Charles Street at Melrose Avenue.
Mr. Slade's first wife, the former Jacqueline Johnson, died in 1964.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, the former Meta Joy "Kandi" Foell; three daughters, Mary Beze of Fullerton, Calif., Nancy Pearre of Columbia and Margaret Schleiker of Cherry Hill, N.J; a stepdaughter, Traci K. Magness and a stepson, William R. Davis III, both of Parkton; a sister, Eleanor McComas of Miami; and five grandchildren. Sun, The (Baltimore, MD) - Thursday, August 24, 1995.2

      John W. "Jack" Slade, 88, of Reisterstown, died Friday, Oct. 24, 2008, at home after an extended illness. Born Feb. 29, 1920, in Pikesville, he was the son of the late Mary and Wesley Slade. He was the husband of Elizabeth M. Slade, his wife of 47 years. He was a Navy veteran, having served in World War II. He was retired from Rosewood State Hospital and Johns Hopkins Hospital. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Carol Lee Jackson of Owings Mills; sons-in-law and a daughter-in-law Hans, Andy and Paula; a sister, Mary Rebecca Bruner; a brother, James Slade; nephew and wife Edward and Debbie Owens; grandchildren Chris and Bill, Suzie and Craig, Wendy and Greg, Scott and Stephanie, Angie, Christopher, Robbie, Ethan, Dorothy, Andrea and Fernando; great-grandchildren Megan, Justin, Tiffany, Mackenzie, Luke, Matthew, Nicholas, Ryan, Noah, Brandon, Tyler and Brice; and great-great-grandchildren Nya and Jada. He was predeceased by daughter Jacqueline "Jackie" Hernandez, who died July 19; and by brother Francis "Bud" Slade. A funeral service was at Eline Funeral Home, 11824 Reisterstown Road.
