She was a graduate of Hamilton High School. She married James A. Slade on July 5, 1944 in New Orleans, Louisiana and he preceded her in death in 1987. She was employed by the Hamilton City Schools as a cafeteria worker for 20 years retiring in 1983. She was a member of the Westwood Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Slade spent many years volunteering at Fort Hamilton Hospital and with Meals on Wheels, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She is survived by her son, Timothy A. Slade of Tennessee; a daughter, Sally A. Slade-Burns of Alaska; three grandchildren, Joshua Burns, Bryce Burns and Lydia Jayne Slade. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James; three sisters, Ethel McGuire, Iona Kolibob and Jessie Schulteiss. She also leaves many dear friends.
