     Leetis Mae Slade was born on July 6, 1896 in Cynthiana, Harrison County, Kentucky.1,2 She was the daughter of John William Slade and Clara Gertrude Hagele.1
     Leetis married Frank Fithian DeJarnett, son of John W. DeJarnett and Maggie [?], on March 16, 1920 in Cynthiana, Kentucky.1 Leetis died on March 31, 1970 in Leesburg, Lake County, Florida, at age 73.1 She was buried in Battle Grove Cemetery, Cynthiana, Harrison County, Kentucky.3 She Jean Rogers "JR" DeJarnett, age 91, of Venice, Florida, formerly of Port Clinton, Ohio, passed away on November 19, 2012.

JR, the son of Frank Fithian and Leetis (Slade) DeJarnett, was born in 1920 in Cynthiana, Kentucky. He graduated from the University of Kentucky with a BS in Metallurgical Engineering and was employed with Brush Beryllium, now Materion Corp. He is a former member of the American Society of Metals and a registered Professional Engineer.

JR loved to sail and is a Past Commodore of the Associated Yacht Clubs of Toledo, Ohio, past member of the Port Clinton Yacht Club and the Venice Sailing Club. He taught navigation classes and is a lifetime member of the Power Squadron. He is a member of the Jacaranda West Golf Club and the Jacaranda Men's Club.

JR married his loving wife, Geraldine Thockmorton on October 29, 1966 and after retiring they moved to Venice in 1988. He is also survived by two daughters, Patricia Sue (Thomas) Carden of Acworth, Georgia, Cathy Jean (Nicholas) Gibbons of Bartow, Florida; a son, Roy Michael DeJarnette of Rockville, Maryland; three grandchildren, Scott (Rebecca) Borders of Winter Haven, Florida, Tristan Matthew (Jaime) Gibbons of Lakeland, Florida, Anthony (Kendra) Ondrus of Kennesaw, Georgia; a great-granddaughter, Kimberly Paige Borders and a nephew, Jeffery Royce DeJarnett of Covington, Kentucky. JR was preceded in death by his brother, Donald R. DeJarnett.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at Farley Funeral Home in Venice. Burial will be held at a later date at South Bloomfield Cemetery in Morrow County, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Venice Power & Sailing Squadron, District 22, C/O Tim McGarr, P.O.
