     James H. Slade was baptized on February 3, 1833 in Bath, Somerset, England; Weston All Saints.2 He was the son of George Slade and Catherine Vincent.3 James immigrated from England to New York in 1855.4 After clerking for 3 years in New York City, he removed to Lynchburg, Virginia, but in 1860, returned to join Yonkers Gas Company and become a permanent resident of Yonkers.4
     James married Mary Nolan circa 1864 in Westchester County, New York.4 James died on June 18, 1901 at age 685 and was buried in Oakland Cemetery, Yonkers, Westchester County, New York.5
