Henry S. Slade

     Henry S. Slade was born on October 7, 1814 in Chelsea, Suffolk County, Massachusetts.1 He was the son of Henry Slade and Sally Danforth.
     Henry married Caroline Esther Garfield, daughter of William Garfield and Mary Cary, on October 2, 1837 in Shrewsbury, Worcester County, Massachusetts.2,3 Henry S. Slade was a prosperous tobacconist and cigar manufacturer11 Chelsea City Directories, 1850, 1864. in the 1850s and 1860s in Chelsea and purchased a share in the “Mill on the Marsh.” He was a co-founder of D & H Slade Spice Company. between 1850 and 1864.4,5 Henry died on March 21, 1881 in Chelsea, Massachusetts, at age 66.6 He was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, Grave # 12744.7

     John married Lucy Lord on December 7, 1830 in Charlestown, Suffolk County, Massachusetts.4 John Slade was a partner in Lambert (Wm. G.) & Slade in 1831.5 He resided in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1831. He made application for a US Passport on June 3, 1863 in New York City, New York.2 He made application for a US Passport on April 17, 1867 in New York City, New York.6 John died on August 26, 1873 in New York City, New York, at age 67.1,3 He was buried in Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn, Kings County, New York.3
