A descendant writes: 'THE END OF NELLIE M. SLADE'S WORLD: The ship was gone, landmarks, properties they had interests in were gone, the Slade Block gone, the aunts and uncles homes gone in the Great Chelsea Fire, Sunday, April 12, 1908. She had all summer to think and dread and to realize she had her place but all the things she had grown to know were gone. I suspect the fire got one more life than it is credited with killing, especially with her strong will and business sense. It took a while to decide what to do but she did it at the place she loved.' on September 5, 1908.3 She was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.4 She was New Tag per Poole, Chelsea VR, Shurtleff. She m 5 July 1866 her cousin once removed George Frederick Slade, he s. of William Jennings Slade, gr.s. of John 2 Slade, her father's brother. in 2012.

G.) & Slade in 1831.5 He resided in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1831. He made application for a US Passport on June 3, 1863 in New York City, New York.2 He made application for a US Passport on April 17, 1867 in New York City, New York.6 John died on August 26, 1873 in New York City, New York, at age 67.1,3 He was buried in Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn, Kings County, New York.3
