     Willard married Nellie Olive Remster, daughter of David Remster, circa 1897.3 Willard was recorded as 21, a barber, born Iowa, had lived in North Dakota two years, his parents both born in Ohio.4 The census gives his wife's maden name Nellie Renister [Remster], indicates his father was born Vermont and his mother in Ohio.5 Willard W. Slade died on June 30, 1958 at age 87.6 He was buried in Tyndall Cemetery, Bon Homme County, South Dakota.6
