     Emma Jane Lewis went by Jane.3 She was born on June 25, 1928 in Asheville, Buncumbe County, North Carolina.1,3 She was the daughter of Horace R. Lewis and Monnie Ridenhour.3
     Emma married Joseph Parker Slade, son of Walter Anderson Slade and Josephine Cobb Drake, on August 21, 1948.2,3 Emma died on October 10, 2002 in Guilford County, North Carolina, at age 74.1,3 Her obituary read as follows:

      Mrs. Jane Lewis Slade, 74, of 202 Mendenhall Road, died Wednesday, October 9, 2002 at High Point Regional Hospital.

Mrs. Slade was born June 25, 1928 in Asheville, NC, the daughter of Horace R. Lewis and Monnie Ridenhour Lewis. She was a graduate of Lee Edwards High School in Asheville and a graduate of High Point College, Magna Cum Laude. She was a school teacher at Jamestown Elementary and Jamestown Junior High School, retiring in 1970. She worked 20 years at the election polls at Jamestown Town Hall. She enjoyed knitting, handcraft, traveling and was an avid reader. On August 21, 1948 she married Joseph P. Slade, Sr. and he survives of the home.

Surviving in addition to her husband are one daughter, Monnie Blesse and husband, Fred, of Auberry, CA; one son, Joseph P. Slade, Jr. and wife, Linda, of Gastonia, NC; three sisters, Elizabeth Yandle of Asheville, NC, Mary Hutton of Anderson, IN, and Ruth Rudisill of Matthews, NC; one brother, Reginald Lewis of Atlanta, GA; and four grandchildren, Andrew Slade, Lindley Slade, Danielle Rooney and Patrick Rooney.

Memorial service will be 2:00 PM Saturday, October 12, at Sechrest Chapel on East Lexington Avenue by Pastor Fred Blesse. The family will receive friends at the funeral home after the service.

The family request that memorials be directed to Sjogrens Syndrome Foundation, 8120 Woodmont Avenue, Suite 530, Bethesda, MD 20814, or the charity of the donor's choice.3

      Services will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday at Hulett-Winstead Purvis Chapel for Reggie Slade, 63, of Purvis.He died Friday, September 4, 2015 at his residence.Interment will be in Coaltown Cemetery.Reggie was a professional and well known musician throughout the south who played with many famous southern rock artist as well as many local musicians and bands. Reggie was also known for writing and performing Gospel music.He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil M.
