     Arthur married Rita [?] circa 1943.3 Art was born and raised in Humboldt County where he attended schools in Arcata. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was employed in the Timber Industry his entire life, retiring in 1980 at the age of 55.3 Arthur died on December 13, 2002 in Humboldt County, California, at age 76.1,3 His obituary read as follows:

           Arthur J. (Art) Slade died in December 13, 2002 in Eureka at the age of 76.
     Art was born and raised in Humboldt County where he attended schools in Arcata. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was employed in the Timber Industry his entire life, retiring in 1980 at the age of 55.
     Art is survived by his wife of 59 years, Rita; his son, Jim Slade and wife Linda; daughter, Sandy Hendricks and husband Dave; brother, Verne Slade and wife Shirley; sisters, Lorraine Grover of Arizona, Nadine Beauchamp of Eureka, Darlene Westcott and husband Jerry of Arcata; grandchildren, Scott Avila and friend, Trisha, Aaron Slade, Kim Mulllins and husband Damon, Jamie Biagi and husband Victor and Tony Slade. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Trevyn and Tyce Mullins (his pride and joy), Baby Biagi (due in July); special nephew, Joe Toroni and many other nieces and nephews.
     He was preceded in death by his parents Melbourne and Angie Slade; brothers, Ernest and Milton Slade.
     At Art's request no formal services will be held.
     Arrangements are under the direction of Pierce Mortuary Chapels/Pierce Chapel, Eureka. Memorial contributions may be made the Kidney Foundation or your favorite charity.3

      SHASTA LAKE Services for Terry Verne Slade, 58, of Shasta Lake will be at -- p.m. Saturday at Twin View Church in Redding.

The Rev. Harold Johnson will officiate.

Burial will be at Redding Cemetery.

Mr. Slade died Monday, March 14, 2005, at his home.

Born March 12, 1947, in Arcata, he moved to Shasta County in 1999 from Lewiston. He served with the Army National Guard in Eureka, was -- bus driver and custodian for Lewiston Elementary School, and was -- member of Lake Redding Men's Golf Association.

Survivors include wife Cynthia; son Marc of Redding; daughter Jeni Hines of Redding; parents Verne and Shirley of Eureka; four grandchildren; and six stepgrandchildren.
