Otis Slade, 77, left us to prepare a place in Heaven on August 31, 2013. Born October 28, 1935 to Otto and Dora (deceased) in Lansing, Michigan, he is survived by his loving and devoted wife Louise, sister Sandra, and five children; Christie McElmurry (Michael), Otis L. Slade Jr. (Kimberly), Michelle Alberson (William Sr.), Heather Anthony (Matt), and Joe Slade (fiancée Cathy Tagliarino). Otis was especially proud of his four wonderful grandsons, James (wife Whitley), William, Dillin, and Garrett, with an eagerly anticipated great grandchild on the way. A wealth of friends and extended family share our grief at his passing.
Otis graduated from Onaway High School in Michigan in 1954. He was a conscientious and loyal man, and proudly worked at Dayco for 24 years before moving to Albuquerque where he worked for Star Sales an additional 11 years. Health issues forced an early retirement, but he never stopped working, as his garden and automobiles can testify.
Blessed with a beautiful voice, Otis has graced countless churches and prayer meetings and even theatres with his resounding tenor. God's Heavenly Choir has just found its newest soloist, and we rejoice. Otis made the world a better place, and we are better people for having known him.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Fraker Funeral Home 1131 State Hwy. A Marshfield, MO, with funeral services following at 11:00 am. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery State Hwy KK in Rogersville, MO.2
